Haven't beaten it yet, but it's... fine. It's not a Metroidvania at all and shouldn't be approached as one; it's entirely a 2D souls-like. It's mostly linear, has nothing in the way of movement upgrades or anything like that, and plays more or less the same in basic terms from start to finish. Areas are pretty much spoke-and-hub collections of combat encounters with shortcuts to open up. Combat is competent and doable, but it doesn't sing. It's not even close to worth $25, but it's worth the price on a sale.4 found this helpful

This game is a mess. The character just walks on it's own from time to time. This leads to deaths that should be avoidable, the pause does not pause the game, when "paused" you can still take damage and are kicked from the pause menu or at least what I am considering the pause menu. The controls are delayed and this leads to more deaths
This is a cute little 2D soulslike (it's NOT a metroidvania, only looks like it on screenshots) that's mostly linear and takes 8-9 hours to beat. It's dirt cheap on sale - I got it for 1.8 euro - so it's worth buying if you're a HUGE fan of this genre. However, I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone else and can definitely see why it has mixed reviews. On the positive side, it's an overall well-made indie soulslike. It has responsive combat, good level and enemy variety, lots of unique bosses, decent pixel graphics, and plenty of different abilities and weapons you can use. On the negative side, it has some annoying Malenia-style boss design - you know, when a boss is actually piss easy, but has one or two cheap, one-shot moves that get you every time. Despite being a soulslike it also lacks core soulslike mechanics such as block and parry (technically, there is a parry, but it's only really available to wizard builds, lol), so you'll frequently be taking unavoidable damage from chained attacks that come out too fast for your dodge roll to recover in time. This hampers player freedom and makes some otherwise straightforward fights unnecessarily frustrating. Also, you can't r…
Garbage hitboxes, clunky controls, and if you're hit while healing it deletes your heal.
