The Unexpected Quest Prologue is a nice little fantasy strategy game that mixes resource gathering, building, exploration and some light combat. I start with a small group of dwarves after their shipwreck and have to help them survive while slowly building up the areas around them. It reminds me of the older style of strategy games where the main goal is not to rush into a huge battle, but to collect what I need, improve my settlement and gradually open up more of the map. The prologue covers the first three chapters, so it gives me a proper taste of the game without trying to be the whole experience. The resource management is probably the part I enjoy most. I need food to keep my workers going, while materials are needed for buildings, repairs and progressing through the different areas. I can gather things myself, but I also have to make sure the settlement has the right buildings to keep producing what I need. Mills provide food, sawmills provide building materials and forges help improve equipment. I like how straightforward it is because I can understand what everything does without having to spend ages learning a complicated economy. There is more to do than just building …
