About Builders of Egypt: Prologue
✦ AI summary
Build and manage an ancient Egyptian city through millennia of history, balancing urban planning, diplomacy, religion, and trade to keep your populace happy and your treasury full. Navigate political intrigue, respond to divine demands, and adapt your economy to shifting market conditions as you grow from protodynastic settlements to the height of pharaonic power.
Builders of Egypt: Prologue is an economic type of city-building taking place in the valley of the Nile. The story starts in a little-known protodynastic period in which you will be able to observe the birth of the Old Egypt and finished with the death of Cleopatra VII.

A key aspect of governance is the skilful management of urban planning. This includes the careful design of street layouts, the strategic positioning of buildings and the consideration of their interrelationships. A well-planned city can significantly increase economic efficiency, which in turn can translate into increased city revenues.
The key is to create a harmonious balance between residential areas, production zones and sacred buildings, buildings that provide entertainment, but also special buildings that provide care for structures and people. In addition, aesthetic improvements such as obelisks, statues and gardens can enhance the quality of life for residents, making the city not only a centre of economic activity but also a desirable place to live.
The Governor will face a series of difficult decisions in a dynamic and evolving political landscape. Meeting the demands of Pharaoh and other cities, responding to military threats and navigating the complexities of a hierarchical society will become routine tasks. These responsibilities require thoughtful decision-making, as a series of poor choices could lead to the loss of important trading partners and make the city less attractive to potential settlers.
Furthermore, a complete disregard for the Governor's authority can lead to a devastating civil war, threatening the stability and prosperity of your city. The Governor must balance these competing demands with wisdom and foresight to ensure the continued growth and security of the city.

The influence of the deity in daily life will be subtle but significant. The primary focus of religious practice will be to meet the community's need for accessible places of worship, to ensure the provision of supplies for temples, and to organise religious festivals. These activities not only meet the spiritual needs of the population, but also play a crucial role in maintaining social harmony.
Neglecting this aspect of governance could lead to dangerous social unrest, comparable in severity to crises such as famine. Such unrest can stem from popular discontent and a sense of spiritual neglect, underscoring the importance of religion in maintaining the social fabric. Balancing the physical needs of the city with its spiritual and cultural requirements is therefore essential to prevent unrest and ensure the overall wellbeing of the community.

Trade is the cornerstone of the Royal Treasury and plays a vital role in the economic stability of the realm. Relying solely on taxes for revenue can be challenging, making trade an essential element. It is in the player's best interest to engage in the production of goods for export, with an emphasis on adapting to dynamically changing prices influenced by the geopolitical situation.
This approach requires a keen understanding of market demands and the ability to quickly adjust production strategies in response to political events. By effectively managing trade relations and export strategies, the player can ensure a steady flow of income to the Royal Treasury, which is essential for the prosperity and stability of their domain.

Builders of Egypt: Prologue is a demo for the full-game release by PlayWay S.A. It is a city builder resource management game based on Ancient Egyptian history. You start by playing through one of 4 scenarios or the main campaign. The aim of the game is to build houses for new inhabitants, manage labour, establish trade routes between towns, manage your resources. The main resource is bread which is used as a primary currency. When you build houses you need to ensure they have access to water. Every town needs a fire brigade to prevent houses from burning, an architect to prevent buildings from collapsing, a stockpile where your resources get collected and a bazaar for establishing trade routes. You can be attacked by aggressive animals or robbed by a thief. You'll have to build a police station to protect your town. The game has a lot of nuance towards different mechanics. For instance, your townspeople can be influenced by things such as their proximity towards their workplace or other buildings. There are many different items to trade. You can run out of bread or storage space if you're not careful. You can mine for turquoise and then refine the minerals into jewellery which c…1 found this helpful

I SPENT 3 HOURS GETTING POTS TO TRADE ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT YOU CANNOT TRADE POTS UNTIL THE END OF THE TUTORIAL. WHAT DID I DO? GO IN THE NEGATIVES. MAYBE IF THE GAME HAD EXPLAINED BETTER HOW TRADING WORKS IN THE TUTORIAL MAYBE I WOULD BE HAVING FUN! EVEN WORSE, YOU CANNOT SAVE THE GAME UNTIL IT IS AFTER THE TUTORIAL. I WASTED 3 HOURS DOING NOTHING. DONT PLAY THIS GAME. I ALSO GOT THIS GAME ON GOG, AND SPECIFICALLY DOWNLOADED HERE ON STEAM SO I COULD MAKE THIS REVIEW. DO NOT DO IT
Looks bland, plays worse. UI is clunky, alerts are vague, and the minimap is useless. The economy spirals into bankruptcy while buildings sit empty even with high unemployment. Three missions in and I’m bored, frustrated, and done. Play Pharaoh: A New Era instead.
