Slow Motion? I don't see anything moving.
Ah yes, the classic walking simulator formula: create a map, give the player movement controls, and call it a day. Explore. Walk. Discover things. Walk some more. For a game called TimeFrame, I spent an awful lot of time waiting for something interesting to happen. What separates good walking simulators from bad ones is having something to keep you engaged. Maybe a compelling story, a memorable narrator, or some meaningful gameplay. This game has none of those things. It just feels empty. I don't even think the visuals were impressive for the time or even for now. Loses points for being boring, having music that nearly put me to sleep, blinding me senselessly with the sun, not including a run button, lacking much of anything to do, and somehow causing me to die repeatedly right as I found an artifact. Death in a walking simulator makes absolutely no sense to me. It doesn't add tension or excitement—it just wastes time. Short, visually interesting with a good soundtrack and a solid narrative. The only complaint I could possibly come up with would be that the game doesnt pause when you are reading, leading to the loop restarting mid text. This incentivizes players (or at least me anyway) to dash from artifact to artifact reading none of it, which works against the desired narrative arc. But, that's a tiny complaint, so take it with a grain of salt.1 found this helpful
Developed and published by Random Seed Games, TIMEframe is a short but deeply memorable first-person exploration game that proves meaningful experiences do not always require lengthy campaigns or complex gameplay systems. Built around the concept of witnessing the final moments of a forgotten civilization, the game places players inside a world where time moves at an incredibly slow pace while an unavoidable catastrophe draws closer. Instead of emphasizing action or survival, it encourages quiet observation, rewarding those willing to immerse themselves in its mysterious setting and discover its hidden stories through exploration. The game's greatest strength lies in its atmosphere. Every corner of its beautifully crafted world feels tranquil yet haunting, creating a constant sense of anticipation as players realize that everything around them is approaching its inevitable end. The slowed passage of time allows players to notice details that would normally pass by unnoticed, from shifting environmental elements to distant events unfolding across the landscape. This design transforms even simple walks into captivating experiences, making exploration feel purposeful despite the abse…
For me a 10/10.
Sadly this is one of the games that could have done alot with the idea but didn't do anything with it. There are no puzzles to solve, Its just walking to an x amount of points and that it. The only reason it takes time is because its a long walk in empty land. Once done. you never start the game again.
I last played this eight years ago. Barely remember a thing about it except that I mildly enjoyed it? That's my barest reccommendation.
