About Tormentum - Dark Sorrow

✦ AI summary

Explore a nightmarish hand-painted castle across three grotesque realms, solving puzzles and making moral choices in this dark point-and-click adventure inspired by the surreal art of Giger and Beksinski. A dreamlike descent into madness filled with haunting atmosphere, compelling characters, and an exceptional soundtrack that blurs the line between reality and nightmare.

TORMENTUM is a dark Point & Click adventure game.

The dreamlike, nightmarish atmosphere of the game was inspired by works of painters H.R. Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski. The game's final look and feel was also strongly influenced by the universes of games such as Demon's Souls or Dark Seed. This unique mixture gave life to a bleak and depressing world.

Those are however the least of his problems as the airship lowers its flight towards a huge gloomy castle which soon becomes his prison. Thus begins the surreal story bordering somewhere between dream and reality...

Key features:

  • THE GAME WORLD: 3 realms, differing in architecture and creatures inhabiting them. You'll meet characters with unique personalities who will help you - or try to prevent you from - reaching your goal.
  • ART: 75 hand-painted stages. The game also features over a hundred additional screens as well as dozens of paintings created by the mad painter residing in the cathedral.
  • PUZZLES: During your journey you will come against 24 varied logical puzzles and minigames.
  • STORY: A dark adventure between dream and reality.
  • MUSIC: Exceptional soundtrack with over 40 tracks.

It is surprisingly a great game. Pros.: the story, design, puzzles, music, aesthetics and choice-making. Cons.: did not notice any. Even "bad" ending and requirements for the good one seem adequate. I especially liked the bad ending music score and a blend of Giger's and Bersker artwork. Recommend to everyone!

Kind of nostalgic feeling playing this game. I don´t really see oldschool style point and click games too often. Very cool. Awesome artstyle and story was good enough. Quite easy puzzles though if you can find all the clues on a given scene. Good game.

A beautiful game, with gorgeous art and ambience. Great puzzles that are logical and not in the least infuriating. Excellent story with some really thoughtful touches. The branching decisions are great on repeat playthroughs and made me think, truly, about whether what I was doing was the best course of action. I finished Evil, sadly, which means my moral compass, at least in video games needs work :D A really wonderful experience. Magical work by the dev team.

Pretty quick, and the puzzles were fairly easy. Zero backstory and minimal world building. However, the art is stunning.

Short and bittersweet. Worth looking at for the aesthetics alone.
