This is a strange game. As a tower defense, or, for legal reasons, "Touhou Defense", placing and merging characters into random things is weird. You can't easily plan ahead because of this. I wasn't even sure what the characters were doing because I had no input in which ones were chosen. 2/10. In short, this is Bloons TD 6 if the style was inconsistent, the characters were random, and the music was annoying.

Please add more characters it's so much fun.

Touhou Defense Tale ~ AI Test in Touhou ~ is a free 2D tower defense game based on the Touhou Project universe. We summon Touhou characters, merge them into stronger units and defend the shrine against waves of enemies. It also mixes in some RTS style controls, so we can move our characters around and manually change what they are targeting instead of just placing them down and leaving them alone. The merging system is probably the most interesting part. We can combine characters to make stronger versions and eventually use different fusion systems called EX, PH and Arcana. Working out which characters to merge and when to keep certain units around gives us something to think about beyond just making the strongest tower available. The battles can get pretty chaotic too. The game has a bullet hell inspired style, with lots of attacks and effects appearing on screen while we are trying to keep the defense organised. Being able to reposition characters during the fight is useful because sometimes we need to react to where the enemies are coming from instead of sticking to one setup. There are 80 waves in total, and the game is built around clearing them as efficiently as possible. …
