About Tower of Chaos

Tower of Chaos is a heavily customizable tactical auto battler with rogue-lite elements and an immersive story with multiple characters sharing an ambiguous past.

Featuring two exploration modes, campaign and challenge modes, togglable hints and a variety of graphical options, it is designed for new players to the genre, as well as auto chess veterans.

Build up your army

As a commander, you have the freedom of recruiting your units, setting the most effective formation on the battlefield, forging powerful items and acquiring the mighty Patron’s blessings.

Using special potions can turn the tide of the battle into your favor, but only true leaders are capable of engaging in a fight at the right moment. Combining powers from all sources grants you endless possibilities for perfecting your build.

Control the Chaos

Your actions at the tower will not remain unnoticed. Conquering it empowers its guardians, making exploration more dangerous. You have countless opportunities of acquiring precious loot, but choosing the greedy path will make your fall imminent.

You can also challenge your commander’s skills in Trials of the Mind, with all the unlocks at your disposal and ability to forge an unstoppable army ready to face multiple waves of enemies. The Gate of Challenges awaits the bravest commanders, unleashing the full destructive potential of the tower.

Unfold the origins

Every conquer attempt starts at Guardian's Quarters. Here you will meet the inhabitants willing to share the glimpse of their powers to support your cause. Show them your gratitude by upgrading and improving the base for your fellow Patrons.

Meet a set of fully voiced-over characters and look for the answers hidden in the origins of your allies. But keep your head down, even with a legendary chaos octopus jumping on your forehead!

As someone who's played a lot of TFT, this is great if you want something that's like a solo version with meta progression.

As my first experience with the Auto Battler genre, Tower of Chaos has been delightful. I'm enjoying the challenge, although some of that may come from my inexperience. The design and art style are fantastic and the story uncovered so far has been great!

Full playthrough here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAFtZ4pMPIc620ulwAFk1g0tz7vFYCeH7 Overall a lot more fun than I was expecting a single player team fight tactics type game to be seeing the different combinations and monsters that you can unlock keeps each run feeling unique. The game also is freaking hard til you figure it out which is a good thing you have to really master the game to start clearing the towers. The voice actors do a wonderful job and it was cool progressing through each characters story arc and LIA is just one of the best characters in video games ever.

Having your "bench" greyed out because you didn't buy the meta progression building to "unlock" them. Not being able to combine units because you didn't unlock the meta progression... I understand the need and appeal of meta progression, However, locking fundamental mechanics to the genre behind them is just mind boggling to me.

Basically single player TFT. For some reason it just does not feel fun. They probably should have stuck more to the original TFT. All the stuff around it, the NPC's, story, running around the map to collect stuff, it just feels boring to me. During combat the cam has 2 positions, both dont feel great. Got it on sale, so ill keep it, but it is not something i would recommend a fellow TFT player.

I would give this game 3-4 of 10 points. It's okay and it's core I like it: You have a story, as usual you can buy permanent updates and so you have to do run after run after run to become better (stronger) and unlock more stuff. The exploration is an interesting idea, too. But even in the first hours it just feels to be grindy and I doubt that it will change the longer you play. The reason I give a thumbs down (and stopped playing it) is mostly because of the controls and (not existing) settings. Many QoL features are missing. For example: -I am asked EVERY time, if I want to explore "pretty" or "basic". Why can't i save that setting? - EVERY time I start a new run, I get tips like "get money and create interest". I get always the same 5 tips. Yes, I used the middle setting (some tips) but when I'Ve seen (and confirmed) the tips a few times I don't need to see it again every time. - Why can't i close menus/screens with ESC? For example: With L you can change the units or buy new, position them on the field etc. When I'm done, I want to press ESC to close the loadout and continue exploring. Every time the game menu opens.. The worst (for me) is the size and missing highlighting …
