Massive memory leak. Memory overflow causes crashes on a 32 GB system after a couple hours of gameplay. Track building GUI is clunky and cumbersome. Signal system is unconventional and confusing. Many UI elements are small and hard to see/click. Early gameplay is a slow, boring grind. Forced emphasis on unprofitable passenger traffic in order to earn "reputation" (the progression currency of the game) feels annoying and contrived. The inability to choose your preferred starting stage/era is annoying for those who want to play with diesels. All of the ambient environment sounds have a repetitive echo that is extremely annoying. Soundtrack consists of one song. Trains will fault out without explanation; troubleshooting errors in routing or signalling is extremely aggravating. The train routing algorithm is extremely stupid; Even when a valid route exists, the presence of parallel routes / stations often causes the path finding logic to fault out without explanation. The only solution is to delete all other routes to that spot until the stupid thing figures out how to add 2+2, then rebuild the alternate routes you demoed. Even then, sometimes it faults out again immedia…1 found this helpful
This game is great! I fell in love with it right away when I discovered how huge the maps were and that I get to lay the track and make the route. The terrain graphics isn't that great, but the trains are a lot more detailed. There is a good tutorial and in game help menu. You do need to learn the various UI windows to develop your route. It took me awhile to figure out the reputation aspect of the game to expand into new territory. The editing of the tracks or in fact the whole game, trains, signals, etc., is very well developed and easy. There are many large maps of different sizes and difficulty and cities towns are well spaced out. I am really enjoying this game.1 found this helpful
Overall quite pleasant. Phenomenal work by one dev. For me it was quite crashy (one crash every two hours approx) but my computer is getting old. If you love trains and already own every other train game in existence, get this on sale, you might enjoy it for a few days. It's only ok, but even an ok train game is a treasure! Looking forward to the dev's next game.1 found this helpful
