TY the Tasmanian Tiger 3

[b]For context I have 100% this game AND got all achievements.[/b] This might be the worst game I have ever played. It genuinely baffles me that KROME Studios had a good foundation of a game with TY 1, a series that could have competed with Spyro, but then they threw all of that away when they made TY 2. Then, to make matters worse, the geniuses at KROME Studios decided to take the feedback from TY 2 and throw it all away, because TY 3 is ALL OF THE WORST PARTS of TY 2 put into a game. TY 3: The Gundam Tiger, more like. Do you like playing the same two mini-games over and over again with a slight tease of platforming in between? Well have I got a game for you! In TY 3 you can restart generators with a Gundam and fight ships with a Gunship. Sorry, I mean Gunyip. That's it! Oh, well actually, no, sorry, they added the garbage knockoff Mario Kart back into the game (and 7% of people beat all the races according to achievements. Turns out no one wanted the Kart racing back AGAIN). Except there are fewer races this time because Karts aren't Gundam and this is a Gundam game. Was looking forward to this game. I played a lot of the first game while growing up, and finally got around to playing the second one a few years ago when the PC port came out which ended up being excellent. I was hesitant to start this one since I had heard the quality wasn't as good in general, but it's honestly just pretty bad. Ignoring the constant crashes from this port that render it unplayable at times, there are just so many other problems littered throughout the game. One of the biggest issues I had was with the crabmersible vehicle being absolutely awful to control, and you need to use it frequently. If you try going for 100% completion, you're also required to do some timed platforming segments with it which are very far from smooth. In several levels there are also some collectibles that are completely asinine to try getting. The minigames are really mediocre and feel bad to play, especially the dogfighting missions which are super sluggish. They also account for about half the levels in the game. I'm also really bitter that when after unlocking the fight with the final boss, for whatever reason, every time I try loading into the level the game crashes repeatedly, and …

This is people's least favorite of the original Ty games from what Ive seen- and maybe that's the case. But I went into this one first, just to be thrown into a world I was unfamiliar with but had been established already. I had a great time with those lenses. The world is so dope, the story is all over the place and wacky, the characters have such cute designs and easy to understand archetypes, and the Australian sense of humor and accents adds so much charm!

TY the Tasmanian Tiger 3 is an ambitious 3D action-platformer that expands the familiar formula with heavier combat, larger conflicts, vehicle sequences, customization, and plenty of exploration. Developed and published by Krome Studios, this remastered release preserves the personality of the original adventure while improving its presentation for modern PCs. It is still unmistakably a product of an earlier era of 3D platform games, but its Australian setting, boomerang-focused mechanics, colorful characters, and unusual mixture of gameplay styles give it an identity that remains distinctive. The story takes a more dramatic direction than the lighthearted premise might initially suggest. After confronting a new threat known as the Quinkan, TY finds himself thrown six months into the future, where Southern Rivers has suffered devastating changes. Burramudgee has been destroyed, Bush Rescue has effectively collapsed, and the region is struggling against the invading enemy. TY must reconnect with familiar allies, cooperate with some unlikely characters, and help restore resistance against the Quinkan. A clear step down from the second game in every respect. Missions are largely repackaged versions of the same three mini-games rather than distinct content, and the open-world structure that made the second game work is scaled back. Feels like a rushed product overall, lacking the variety and polish of its predecessor. Not Recommended.
