Somehow poorly optimized and having strange stuttering offline despite having the most basic graphics ever. Guns get in the way of everything because they're too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ big, no customization for gun position. Subjective part of the review: low ttk is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Just play team fortress 2 or something.

"Ultimus" is a dead PvP only multiplayer game with no players. You can botmatch against one enemy but what's the point? It's infested with EOS, so that's a definite deterrent and likely contributed to the failure of the game... well, the poor quality graphics didn't help. Sure, it's clever to slap on a shader/flter to make it look like old timey monochrome CRT line graphics, but not wise... it made the game look bad. The low quality low poly minimalist looking 3D visuals deterred a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appe…

So from what I can tell, ultimus seemingly is an unreal engine game, most likely unreal 5. The dead giveaway was that it was using TAA. That's right, it's using temporal/terrible anti aliasing, that doesn't really make any difference aside from making the game have a slight haze effect around all the green lines and run way worse. What do you need anti aliasing for? The game is black and green, so the colors are doing all of the work for you. That slows down performance and detracts from motion clarity. The minimum specs being an Nvidia GTX 960 to render maybe 3 guns, one bot, and 5 boxes with green lines is embarrassing. Is that really what qualifies as optimized these days? I'd think these kinda visuals would run on a pc from 1991 on windows 95 or xp bare minimum, but I guess the opposite is to be expected when you just use some trendy new engine, slap black and green on it, add one bot, 3 guns, then go home. I'm shocked by how little there is and how poorly ultimus ran. It's just green lines and black boxes. Star Wars could render that in 1977, the Tron arcade cabinets could render that in the 80s. You'll probably play it for 10 minutes, then realize you spent longer downloadi…

nails the aesthetic (thought it would cause motion sickness but i was fine). needs more variety but great foundation.
