Gameplay is a bit confusing and kinda hard getting used to. When compared to classic games like Snow Bros. or Rainbow Islands where everything is contextual and easy to pick up but here it's like learning to ride a unicycle - you fall flat trying to get up again. Hit enemies with your hook then throw them into your backpack. Now you can fire from bazooka. Load balls into your 'zooka - that's the game. Some enemies on platforms are hard to get so you have to try a few times. Grab coins to finish the stage. Visuals are colorful and good looking. Soundtrack is great for an arcade game. A lot more fun to play with someone than playing solo. Recommended for coop otherwise skip it.
11 found this helpful
Disclaimer: I bought this on sale for only 1,24€. As big of an Umihara fan that I am (800+ hours in Sayonara), this game isn't that fun. The only real content is doing "Challenge Mode" which consists of 40 Levels (which took me 2-3 hours). There are however 22 characters too choose from, so that's pretty nice, even if some are almost identical. The game also features Co-op (2-4 Players) and 1v1 modes, so if you have a friend the game can be a lot of fun. The levels are sadly mostly just copy-paste with different colors and enemies, so it gets stale real quick and is a slog to get through due to just need to kill enemies over and over again. The game also has no Resolution settings, meaning you're forced to play in blurry 720p, and having at least no 1080p is a joke in the current day and age. Verdict Even though it's not that great of a game, for as cheap as I bought it, I'd say it's worth it. But no way should you get it otherwise without a deep sale. If you have a friend to play with (Co-op or 1v1), then the value of this game increases though.7 found this helpful
Why does this have mixed reviews? This was fun as heck????? Forget people complaining about multiplayer, this is an awesome co-op and single player umihara kawase game with the perfect level of difficulty and a ton of cool characters. On sale this game is an absolute must buy if you care about kawase games or just like fun anime games in general. I am so glad I took the chance on this game and you should too.4 found this helpful
i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LOVE umihara kawase !!2 found this helpful
This game is absolutely DogWater in terms of the single player? They took the worst mechanic from the original games and the made a whole game around it. Like WHY? Multiplayer is fun I guess, probably the best part of the game. But this game is just infuriating more than fun. Why does it not build around the core mechanic of the game. I feel like I can just run through the game with the skills ALONE. DO not purchase this game without the steep sale of 2 Dollars. Absolute nonsense. Plays this game for the super smash bros fun, not for umihara kawase. Also a horrible port PS. Keyboard controls not there, no effort put in the port.1 found this helpful
With friends, this is really fun! Though get it when it's on sale, since it often goes on very deep sales, like -95% off.
