Unified is a very strange visual novel, and I liked that it does not feel anything like a conventional story game. I found it surprisingly thought provoking, especially because the game is willing to get abstract rather than explaining everything in a familiar way. There is basically no traditional gameplay here. The experience is a linear reading journey with no choices, so my attention is entirely on the writing and visual presentation. I actually think that works well for what the game is trying to discuss. Instead of interrupting the ideas with gameplay systems, it lets the writing carry the entire experience. The central concept is that everything is connected through a conscious intelligence that runs the universe. I enjoyed the way the game uses that idea to question the ego and the importance we place on individual identity.
