About Unleaving

Exploration
Unleaving takes its title from Gerard Manley Hopkins' poem:
'Spring and Fall: To a Young Child.'
It opens with the lines:
'Márgarét, áre you gríeving Over Goldengrove unleaving?'
In Hopkins' words, as the seasons change, 'Goldengrove' loses its leaves, is a metaphor for the transient nature of life. Unleaving is a metaphorical game crafted through illustrations and puzzles context.

Art Experience
Unleaving is as much a video game as it is an extended series of multimedia paintings and drawings.
Every frame is a hand-painting, seamlessly integrating pencil and graphite puzzle elements.
The visuals come to life through traditional painting animation.
Embracing a commitment to originality, each scene is new, with no repetition.
Each chapter is based on a specific theme that guides the mood, emotion, and story and, by extension, influences the colors and style.

Story Driven Puzzles
Through the gameplay featuring puzzles and skill-based challenges each tightly knit into the story's fabric, players immerse themselves in the artistic experience.

If I could I would give a neutral rating now. Although, I really acknowledge and appreciate the whole game's audio-visualistic style (everything made by hand drawings), it didn't get me. I remember when I played it one of my neighbours family were so loud and noisy, so perhaps that knocked me out of the mood and couldn't go with the flow. Or perhaps just because using sentences as an expression to tell the story is not really my cup of tea. If they would just built on the great environmental storytelling supported with their artistic style, it could have been better. Also, I found some puzzles more frustrating, but some of them were fun to play. Of course, these things are not decreasing the value of the game, only reflects my personal opinions.

This game is in the top 5 games I have played that is absolutely STUNNING artistically. I'm obsessed with the art so much. Would play again. There were some tricky puzzles that I had to look up because they stumped me, but overall AMAZING.

I will not say much about the advantages of the game. Others have mentioned that. The art design is excellent. But I don't like its gameplay. The game judgment is a bit strict. You have to reach a certain point before you can pass the level, and I've lost all my patience. So I don't recommend it.(;′⌒`)

I have played this game 3 times....every time I beat it, I get a new perspective. I played Unleaving 3 times for GG Women Professionals's raffling stream of the game and its digital artbook. The nonprofit bought the game to support Orangutan Matter studio while the studio donated 3 steam keys and artbook to 3 winners for the raffle. It truly is a masterpiece in its own way. No matter how frustrated I felt with some of the puzzles, the relief to finally accomplish a level and getting an achievement was worth it. The art is spectacular! You can truly see the hard work that is made in these hand-painted scenes. I had to screen shot one or two of my favorite scenes because it's so beautiful! The perspective for the first time is revisiting the past memories and past lives. Every level reminded me of going through memories. I didn't know if I was an adult living through my inner childhood memories or am I being reincarnated and seeing who I was as a person. It really made you think how our choices in the past can define us but the choice we make in the present can change our lives too for the present and future. The perspective for the second time is about Rebirth. The game has a …
