The hilarious thing about this, is Steam has the wrong thumbnail for this game so I thought I was going to be playing something else entirely. In any case, the game doesn't actually seem to run correctly on my Win 11 system. After the intro video I've got nothing, so I just sat around listening to the sounds for a bit thinking about dinner.6 found this helpful

US and THEM, developed by Icehole Games and published by Conglomerate 5, is a turn-based Cold War strategy game that shifts the focus of conflict away from open warfare and into the quieter, more intricate world of espionage, influence, and ideological control. Rather than commanding armies or engaging in direct battles, players take on the role of either the CIA or the KGB, competing for global dominance through subtle manipulation and long-term planning. It’s a concept that immediately distinguishes it from more traditional strategy titles, emphasizing patience and calculation over spectacle. The game unfolds on a global map divided into regions where influence can be expanded or contested. Each turn represents a period of time, during which players allocate resources, deploy agents, and execute operations designed to shift the balance of power. Success is not achieved through conquest but through destabilization, persuasion, and control. Coups, propaganda campaigns, and covert actions become the primary tools of engagement, creating a strategic environment where outcomes are often indirect and delayed. This structure encourages players to think several steps ahead, as immediate…1 found this helpful
This is a game of cold war spys trying to take over the world from the other side. Though it is very simple, it is not easy to know what to do and how to do it. It starts in 1965, yet they have odd regime choices. They have, for example, Angola and Afghanistan among others socialist. They were not socialist until after 1975. As the US, I was in an ever worsening deficit with no descernable way to influence it. I used auto placement of my spies, but then could never find where they went. After 3 or 4 months the world was quickly turning 'red'. So, it was an exercise in frustration. 25/100
