You act as a newly-fledged vampire in New York. You have to learn what it means to be one of the Kindred in a huge, vibrant, contemporary metropolis. On your way you’ll meet different NPCs – other vampires, thin-bloods, ghouls, humans... and more. You will perform tasks that will put test your humanity and take part in a complex and often brutal struggle for power between the Camarilla and the Anarchs. You’ll interact with key NPCs - form unique bonds and relations and learn your undead companions’ deepest secrets... or see them abandon you. You’ll feast on the living and will ask yourself about the very nature of humanity. You will have to keep track of your Hunger or the Beast inside you will take over. You will make choices for the character, including which storylines to pursue and how to approach the different situations presented. You will take part in a narrative experience with branching dialogue choices, memorable characters - all among iconic locales of the Big Apple. You will be able to use Disciplines that will help you in combat and conversations, but be aware that every use of a Discipline may increase the level of your Hunger. Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York (2019) A very nice visual novel game and one that's pretty long to complete with three different endings that shape your character and her personality at the end. The background visuals is very nice and atmospheric and the characters you meet are also unique in their own way. The setting is good and its an overall fun visual novel to complete. Recommended to get this one if you love visual novel games, vampires or just Vampire the Masquerade in general. 7/101 found this helpful
The characters are interesting, the atmosphere is good but the dialog is painstakingly atrocious. Without knowing the characters body language or the audio tone of a conversations choosing a dialog option comes down to a coin toss, especially because the sentence the players chooses is often NOT what the character actually says. Something that reads as an intended joke turns out to be dead serious or the other way round. Hence the consequences of the choosing are mostly unintended, which is a problem because the only solution the game offers is a complete restart of the entire session, which results in click skipping hours of dialog until you get to the point, where the game made you fail, and if there are more than two options, you might have to do this again and again, until you get the result you expected - which absolutely kills the mood. The next problem is that you should not use kindred powers AT ALL! Except, when the game absolutely demands it of you, by offering no other choices or no other choice which could lead to success. The reason for this is simple, feeding is almost impossible because the potential victims are either in places where you shouldn't feed, not alone i…1 found this helpful
Kind of rehashes the opening of Bloodlines a bit, but still fun in a nostalgic way. A bit bummed I don't get to pick more about the player character, but the stories are intriguing enough. Very dated to 2019. Has reply value.1 found this helpful
It's engaging and the art is nice. Not the most impactful game in the world but it's good for relaxing
this is more of a sort of visual novel, your choices don't have any influence over the story. i actually really liked watching the same story play out from three different angles. i adore sophie as a character and qadir is bae. the ending is suitably brutal for the world of darkness setting, but it still hurt my feelings.
got me into vtm,. pretty freaking helpful to learn everything.
