Vanity Fair: The Pursuit

I have a very mix feelings about Vanity Fair : The Pursuit. Protagonist and other actresses has some solid foundation of acting skills. That's a plus. However, I cannot classify this title as the best FMV or S tier in my list. A well-made FMV must always emphasis the point of view from a player. You're making a FMV , you need to consider how the player feels. You must provide the freedom to a player , allowing them to make decision , considering this is a choice matters game. Plus , every choices must always have some kind of consequences. No one can walk away unpunish. If the Director and the Devs team decide to have "sim dating" element, then embrace it fully. Majority players who are into this genre wants to have some kind of freedom and control, hoping the lady/character they are into at the beginning , eventually pays off in the end. Ugh, I think I am gonna give a downvote. I cannot just upvote and give it a positive review after walking out from a bitter ending.

It's ok. Maybe?

Played Mandate of Heaven and it was awesome so i tried playing vanity fair. Definitely historical drama is way better and more production quality and story compared to vanity fair. Really looking forward for developer to make new one, hopefully as good as the Mandate of Heaven. Alternatively Vanity Fair is not bad and really like the actress Xiang Weijing acting as Guan Haiyue. She was also Liu Nian in Mandate of Heaven. Overall, Mandate of Heaven 10/10, Vanity Fiar 9/10.

A good premise and setup but unfortunately the endings left much to be desired. It felt like there was really only one "cannon" ending and that all the other endings were an afterthought. The "cannon" ending was not very intuitive to achieve but was satisfying in the end. All the other endings were just ok. Not bad...but could have been much better.

Personally, I really enjoyed the game. It has an engaging story with a huge number of possible outcomes. The only downside is that, even though I unlocked all the achievements, I still couldn’t complete all the story branches in every chapter to 100%. I managed to do it in only about half of them, while the others stayed at around 96–98%. But overall, the game is definitely worth playing.
