Vlad Circus: Curse of Asmodeus is the new prequel to Vlad Circus: Descend into Madness (2022). It recounts events alluded to in the first game, another dark and sinister tale, this time following Josef Petrescu, co-heir to the circus. It is a fantastic game that expands on the first instalment whilst bringing something new to the table. It will take 4-6 hours to play and features the best elements from a range of game genres, blending them seamlessly to create a unique and atmospheric experience. Horror is delivered through creepy narrative elements, disturbing hospital exploration, gruesome imagery and tension-building sound design. The story is both engaging and intriguing, keeping the player on their toes with unexpected progressions and well-constructed characters. The pixel art is top-notch and depicts the various aspects of the narrative perfectly. Overall, this is a brilliant example of a horror-adventure; the point-and-click style of gameplay suits the themes and narrative very well. I believe this game will appeal to a wide range of players, and I highly recommend it and the previous title. WANT TO KNOW MORE? My full review of this game, which goes into det…

The game is primarily a point-and-click adventure, but without overwhelming you with back-and-forth mechanics, which was the flaw of the first title. Here, you play more with the linearity of the narrative thanks to a classic but effective trick: flashbacks. As Josef's reflection encounters mirrors, you relive the few hours leading up to the circus fire. You try to make amends with your angry brother—because Josef has always been a jerk—by attempting to recruit an artist in the rotten town of San Reno to please your brother... Each mirror corresponds to a game sequence with a clear objective, a defined area, actions, and logical sequences. It's up to you to rack your brains to persuade the characters to help you, steal what you need from them, or assemble a few objects to achieve your goals. These mechanics are similar in the cellar, where your goal remains, above all, to see the light of day again, let's not forget. I loved the dialogue in Vlad Circus: Curse of Asmodeus. And if you pay close attention, the title includes the word “Curse,” which can mean both a curse and profanity. HA! (denisbrogniart.gif). So yes, Curse of Asmodeus uses mature language, in addition to explicit …

This game is fun, especially after having played Descend Into Madness but, the writing breaks immersion. The line that stood out to me the most was in El Dorado. "Damn, dude.... You're delusional ha ha". I think the team could have done better. I still very much enjoyed this, thank you!

It's hard to compare it to its predecessor Descend into Madness as the vibe and playstyle is quite different. This game is haunting in a different way and I still liked it a lot. It's packed with a great prequel story, a haunting soundtrack, some not too easy puzzles and an oppressive atmosphere. 8/10 as I found the gambling sequence a bit annoying (also it might trigger some people out there) and one or two solutions a bit too moon-logic-ially :)
