About Voidrun
The Void is everywhere, but it is not merely an absence of matter – it lives, it feels and it feeds. All the stars shall come undone by its will. Bring forth the end! Vanquish these worlds and feel the power of the Void flow through you! Answer the call, and become more! Well, for now…
Unlike many bullet hell arcade games Voidrun does not give you a gun. Instead you must encircle your enemies with Void Balls and watch its power destroy them. However, you must pick your attacks carefully: The void balls are also your only way of blocking enemy projectiles.
Voidrun also features your favorite mechanics from recent rouge-likes:
In each run you must void four planets, but watch out! For each planet you void, one power-up will be removed…

Alright, maybe I haven't played this enough to fully appreciate it, but Voidrun kinda isnt all that great. The overall gameplay is good in concept but you tend to be pretty underpowered at the start of each stage. Enemies can sometimes be totally fair and have cool mechanics, but others just randomly evade your attacks without a consistent way to trap them, or hit you point blank with unreactable projectiles. The hitstop effect whenever you pick up a powerup or defeat an enemy also sometimes leads to getting distracted and then hit by an attack as soon as it ends. Bosses can sometimes be cool, but can also take an annoying amount of time to beat due to similar evasiveness and unfair attacks. The classic mode is neat but extremely difficult, the arcade mode is kinda bad since you only get one life for the entire thing, and the adventure mode is probably the best one, but the balancing is all over the place, and the system of "sacrifice your ability to fight to get minor upgrades" isnt very good either, as well as the general lack of extra lives making it very difficult to make much progress unless you finish every stage without a single death. The soundtrack is definitely the highli…4 found this helpful
Game would be more fun with more abilities/modifiers. As is, I'd recommend Arcade mode, since Classic seems to just take away your abilities with each victory. Turn off VSync to fix the speed issue.
Best enemy designs. Sooo cool
Absolutely fantastic core idea and design. Execution feels overly targeted to a very hardcore audience. I really like the game, but its simply too hard for me to get very far. If you like a epic challenge, this is an amazing game. :)
I really want to like voidrun, but I simply cannot. It's jam packed with cool and genuinely innovative ideas, but is marred by the single worst pacing of any game I've played. A core mechanic of voidrun is managing the stock of orbs you have on hand, so that you do not run out while battling enemies. However, you need to get more orbs than you start with to defeat enemies. How do you get more? By creating circles over empty ground hoping to uncover some orb ups. And you do this for the first half of your time in a level, EVERY LEVEL! In addition, the speed of the game is directly tied to your screen's refresh rate, and if you're stuck with a particularly slow or fast rr, then it becomes way too slow to be fun, or way too fast to be playable. Voidrun has some very interesting and fun ideas, like a "downgrade" upgrade system, and unique combat, but it's just too jank to be fun.
Basically QIX with a ton of variables. Has roguelite elements in that each run has a slightly different enemy and powerup selection. One of the best GAME OVER screens ever that you will see a lot of. This game is a blast and arcade-y to the bone. Plays great on cabs and uses a single joystick and two buttons. Get it!
