VR Patients is a free to play serious VR Medical simulator for EMS crew and medical students, Not a game. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, sounded ok, played ok. I am not a doctor, nurse or EMS trained, so i did not understand how to do the cases. You have to create an account from VR app login page, then quickly validate the account by email, then log into the website to manage your account. On the website, you can also create scenarios, but it will takes medical know how. I guess you can invite other people's accounts to your organization. You can test EMS crew using this VR simulator. Each case is a Test with no hints. Get this only if you are a doctor, nurse or senior EMS manager.

You probably don’t need me to tell you this but ‘VR Patients is a medical training app that sees you performing various tests and analyses on various patients with various conditions. While it is indeed free it does require a small sign-up to get going. I have to say I was semi-impressed with it, but this is NOT a hand-holding training app. It won’t tell you what to do, it won’t tell you what anything you are using is, nor will it be of any benefit to anyone other than a medical student who already knows quite a lot. If you ask me (with no medical training) it is a little basic, but it is free and you can do quite a lot with each virtual patient, so it is probably worth a look. I just wish there was more training on offer here rather than just the tools to train yourself.

"VR Patients" is barely a game, it's more of an educational trainer for EMTs. Here's the thing, if an ambulance rolls up and the guy gets out wearing a Vive and says "No need to worry, I learned how to be a paramedic from Steam!" I'm going to tell him to get stuffed, I'll take my chances. Anyway, barely a game, certainly nothing of any real value as a game for gamers on Steam, and of course VR exclusive because, uh, when I think training doctors, I think Oculus Rift? I suppose this is well intentioned, but at the same time, it's unclear why they decided to use Steam for this. It's not really a game, it's not fun, you have better things to do with your time. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad …

I'm a new EMT and this demo was great I wish they had an individual purchase option for baby medics like me to practice

VRpatients feels more like a detailed medical simulation than an actual game. It’s definitely not my kind of thing, but I can’t really knock it because there seems to be a lot of detail here for people who actually want that realistic medical/EMS experience. Pretty niche, but if that niche is your thing, give it a shot.

I work in an ER, but I’m not an EMT (yet). And I previously learned how to be a pilot, which I did using a lot of of flight simulator training. So naturally, I wanted to find a simulation for EMS. While clinical medical experience can be very hard to replicate, I think VR patients does a good job. The lessons that are available for free in the trial version, which is all that is available to the general public, are pretty good and feel like they relate to my minimal clinical experience. I just wish the full version was available for purchase because as it stands right now, this is basically just a demo for schools and other organizations to sample their product. Interested to see how this develops!
