Its pretty good. I love the innovative visuals, but the jump scares do make it difficult for me to get back in. I would like to finish it, but I remember not know what to do and I just kept getting stuck. It does freak me out a bit but it is also kind of annoying.

Incredibly boring to me, the pace of gameplay would best be described as slug-like

I am only 30 minutes in and . . . frustrated with the game mechanics. I find the artwork aesthetically interesting. I don't mind a narrative rich gameplay. But the moving around...is tedious. You start off injured and slloooow. There's stumbling around and the movement doesn't always match what I do with the arrow keys. The perspective changes, sometimes in ways that aid, other times in ways that frustrate progress. And I can see the constant need to relight a match getting old very, very soon. So, I'm walking away for now. I am slightly intrigued, however, so perhaps I'll do a little spoil sleuthing to see if I can move things along a bit. Eventually. Again, only 30 minutes. Take my review with a hundred grains of salt.

White Night, developed by OSome Studio and published by Plug In Digital, is a survival horror adventure that distinguishes itself through atmosphere, restraint, and an unwavering commitment to a singular artistic vision. Set in the 1930s during the Great Depression, the game follows an unnamed man who, after a car crash in a storm, seeks refuge in a decaying mansion known as Vesper Manor. What initially appears to be a temporary shelter quickly becomes a claustrophobic nightmare, as the house reveals itself to be inhabited by restless spirits and haunted by the tragic history of its former occupants. Rather than relying on overt scares or combat-heavy mechanics, White Night builds its horror through mood, vulnerability, and a constant sense of unease. The game’s most defining feature is its stark black-and-white visual presentation, which is not merely stylistic but foundational to how the game plays. Inspired by classic noir cinema and early expressionist horror, the absence of color heightens contrast and sharpens the player’s awareness of light and shadow. Darkness is not just atmospheric—it is lethal. The world beyond illuminated areas is dangerous, forcing players to treat ev…
