About Widower's Sky

Alone in a mysterious land, follow a father and son on a voyage to find home after the loss of their beloved wife and mother. They will endure a daunting journey of towering buildings and beautiful vistas using the ancient portals they happened upon. Equipped with only his bow and devastating dash attack, the father must fight against the wildlife and the machines while keeping the son fed and rested.

Widower's Sky is a game about adventure, survival and family. Like chapters in a novel, you play through the future while listening to the past until the two timelines converge and the story reaches it's climax.

Features

Gorgeous landscapes: Beautiful and varied worlds to explore. Stick to the path set before you or take your time wandering, it's up to you.
Engaging soundtrack: A hauntingly moving score that reacts to your progression.
The world: Living environments, including docile and vicious wildlife, set the stage for an ancient history that was ahead of it's time.

The Rest

• Engaging story told through narration that reveals itself through the chapters of the game.
• Just the right amount of everything. A mix of puzzle, platforming and survival
• A mix of enemies ranging from machines to wildlife
• A helpful dog!

OK, guess I'm gonna be the one English guy to give this a thumbs up! I watched 'YourfavoriteSon' on Youtube as he attempted to wade through 10 negatively reviewed Steam games and guess what? He actually enjoyed this one. It's beautiful, well narrated, has a calming soundtrack and is very challenging. The puzzles are sometimes baffling. What do I do? Where do I go? Why's everything that moves trying to kill me? This to me is the beauty of it all. You'll have to figure it out/interpret it all yourself. There are no guides, no walkthroughs, no videos to help you, which makes it all the more satisfying knowing you're one of the very few people in the world to have figured out the solution. There seems to be a fair number of separate puzzle lands to figure out. 5 hours in and I'm only up to the 5th land, but I've enjoyed myself so far and certainly got my money's worth. I feel more determined to finish this than most other games in my collection! Tips -Turn off survival mode. That's one headache you can do without -Don't be put off by the blurry graphics at first. Just turn all fancy settings off, stick it in 4K then leave it alone. Looks great! -Can't quite get the right camera …

I found this game on Reddit and bought it on the day of release as it seemed very appealing and the creator was very enthusiastic about it, which makes me kind of not want to write this review, but I feel I have to be honest here. I can't recommend this game as it is. Visually it's very appealing, the soundtrack is good, it seems like this could be a very engaging game, but honestly it's just not done. The controls are just bad. It's barely controllable with a gamepad, but absolutely unplayable with keyboard and mouse. Even with a gamepad it's very hard to control your character. There's a severe lack of any explanation. There's no way to know what you're doing, where you're supposed to go, or even what the controls are other than just trial and error. There's no way to know what's an enemy or not. UPDATE: the last update has improved explanations and the tutorial area overall, but it's not quite there yet. Noticeable improvement, however, so kudos for that! In the short time I played I stumbled upon the "tutorial" (if you can call it such), ended up in what I assume is some sort of level select area, got past some enemies by sheer luck (am I supposed to fight them somehow?), l…

Good graphics but lost interest right away trying too many commands for me and the instructions were confusing. Not a fan of puzzle games in order to advance on the start up point and get stuck quickly so I lost interest. I felt it was a little misleading and felt really disappointed.

Yourfavoriteson led me here. Very interesting game. I don't think it's for my kind of patience, but maybe someone out there will appreciate it more. Leaving a thumbs up to give the dev motivation for whatever their next endeavor is.

My problem is that I cannot figure out how the game works. I cannot make it off the first pedastal at the beginning of the game. There is no tutorial nor instructions as far as I can tell. After 20 minutes of playing I can still do nothing but die and reset.

I bought this because a youtuber who I can't remember the name of did a review of some of the lowest reviewed Steam games. He actually recommended this one due to the style. Having played it I understand why it's rated super low. It's glitchy. The physics don't like to work a lot. But the music is pretty good, there's some interesting times to be had. The voice acting is good even if the writing doesn't seem to make sense a lot. Enemys will sometimes just launch into the sky before they're killed. Wild animals will just hate you for no reason. All aggro'd WILL find you at every checkpoint and camp there eternally until you realize you can dash out of there. Level 4 kinda just broke. But the music is really relaxing. To get the most of it turn off Survival Mode. The glitchiness overcompensates for the reduced difficulty.
