Super disappointed about this game. It's bad enough to use AI to avoid paying artists. I know that a lot of people do not value art, so it should be expected that a developer would opt to use slop instead of paying to make something for their game. But. You CANNOT use AI to learn languages! AI cannot understand. It cannot teach concepts because it does not understand the intricacies. You HAVE to use real people who really know the language. I really tried with this game. But the use of AI mistranslations with words and particles made it untenable to continue (I was using the Korean version). I can forgive gameplay issues. Developing a game is hard. But cutting corners with the actual language instruction in a language learning game is messed up. I would LOVE for them to take another pass at this. Get real language teachers to look at the language content, fix the mistakes. I would love to come back to this game, because the immersion is excellent. But it needs to be accurate for that to mean anything.

I was looking for a language learning game I could play with a controller, which is possible with steam input. The game is enjoyable, takes longer than a few hours, and goes beyond learning individual words. There are occasional bugs but the developers seem fairly responsive on discord. Don't solely rely on this for learning a language, but it seems helpful alongside other methods.

I already played Wonderlang on Itch.io for about 30 hours. Since I backed the Kickstarter campaign for their second game, I received this copy for free. ♥ Wonderlang is a great way to learn a language in a really fun and engaging way. It keeps you hooked because it doesn't feel like learning at all. I played the game in my native language, German, to test whether the grammar, vocabulary, and overall localization were accurate, and I have to say that, for the most part, they really are. Steam Deck support is a huge plus for me, and it's also being actively worked on. The game is already playable in its current state. If you have an Android device (I used the Ayn Thor with 12 GB RAM) that can run the game natively, you can also play on the go during your daily commute, for example. It's not completely free of mistakes, but the community is great at spotting them, and the developer usually fixes them within a day or two. It's nice to see that the game is actively maintained and supported. Of course, it's not a complete replacement for traditional language learning and should be used as a supplement. But for what it is, I see a lot of potential here. Even in its current state, I c…

Best language learning game/app i tried. Minor bugs like geting stuck in corners because of npcs or sometimes words from another language pops up but it happened less than 10 times in 15 hours so really not a big issue. The voice recognition system is not perfect but it helps a lot to gain confidence for speaking outloud. The universe is fun to explore, combat is engaging and not as repetitive as other games i tried if you use random attacks and there's even an overworld map :), also interactions with npcs feel natural. Wish there was more fast travel on the map and a better way to access food instead of going through the menu (maybe there is but i don't know how). Also the dictionnary is not as complete as it should but whatever, google. Learning spanish right now and waiting for arabic. Overall a solid 9/10 for the genre. I'm buying the sequel as soon as it gets out!

I am learning Korean and love playing video games so this game is amazing for me! I love that it incorporates speaking and typing. Very important for a language which has a different alphabet than what you are used to. I also do not feel like I am wasting my time when playing the game because I am actually improving my language skills while also experiencing a story. Also In am so happy there are no leaderboards or any other dark patterns that other language learning platforms use to increase their MAU. Thank you for developers doing such a wonderful job!

WonderLang is so cute! The story is fun and mysterious, the characters and monsters are thoughtfully designed, and the language learning scales with your prior knowledge.
