Spacebase DF-9

Still dissapointed that this game was never given the chance to reach the planned potential. As amazing as some of Double Fine's games are, this is an example of what happens when management has to pull the plug on a concept they don't feel they can bring to its realization. This was Double Fine's attempt at a management sim. Similar to the Two Point games combined Rimworld or Prison Architect, with space exploration, aliens, and building. Unfortunately Double Fine felt they had to pull the plug while they weren't even close to completing the roadmap. Very sad, but they lived to tell the tale, got purchased by MS made little games for a decade, then recently got spun out again to be indie once more. It's better than falling apart. I hope the next Double Fine game is a great one. This one wasn't given the chance it deserved. I hear Space Haven is a great game and will check it out instead.

2014: Spacebase DF-9 was shelved by Double Fine "for not making enough money". 2026: Double Fine was shelved by Microsoft "for not making enough money". Game was totally abandoned without warning by trusted developer. Suddenly went from alpha to 1.0 with the expectation that the community would finish it. So sketchy that Steam actually changed their early access policies. I had enjoyed the previous Double Fine games but this was too shady and to this day I haven't had good cause to buy any of their games myself.
