You will control the fate of the human race through researching alien technologies, creating and managing a fully operational base, planning combat missions and controlling soldier movement in battle.

This is a steal of a game. The XCOM series is an absolute must if you want the perfect mix of action and tactical gameplay in a turn-based game, with some really good base-buiding. It's fast-paced, the difficulty is well-balanced, and it can get quite demanding on the higher difficulties. Crazy to think that this game is more than a decade old, it hasn't aged one bit! I only experienced some minor bugs once, in the final mission. Great stuff.
Played the original...loved it. This is even better.
Very boring.
One of my favorite games. Sure the RNG can be maddening, but they did a great job turning the original xcom into a more modern tactical play style.
