Was recommended this game by a friend and managed to get it while on sale as well. Some people call this game a spiritual successor to F-Zero, and while I personally have never played the series I can't say yes or no from personal experience, but it does seem to share a lot of the same sort of vibes that F-Zero does. Now for what I consider the good and bad parts of the game Good: Arcade championship mode with 4 difficulties unlocked by default with a 5th available to unlock. A story mode, which I feel is rare to see in a racing game with a pretty fair learning curve. It starts off pretty easy but gets harder the further in you go. Close to 60 tracks to race on spread across the different planets and moons of the solar system. The "Bad" (Not necessarily game breaking bad): You only start with a single character available in arcade mode and need to unlock the rest through either placing well enough on certain difficulties, or progressing through the solar system in general. The story plot falls apart about halfway through in my opinion. While it doesn't take away from the gameplay itself it sort of makes the ending feel less... important for lack of a bette…2 found this helpful
So listen up!........ I was going to wait until I finished Story Mode or raced more in Arcade Mode before leaving a review. But after racing on Ringatron I was like, "I gotta leave a fukken review soon, but maybe a few more races." Then right after that, Hyper Effects in UK London had me like ,"OMFG I'm leaving one right now!" This game has a lot to offer for F-Zero fans and I love how they've included a cool Story Mode with some 3D beat-em up aspects to it. The music is solid as well. I will say a few negative things are that there is some weird jank here and there. The graphics could use a bit more fine tuning. No online ranked mode. :( And the victory screen for winning a tournament in Arcade Mode doesn't make you feel victorious since there's no flashy win screen. Other than that, this game is solid. 8.5/10!! Big thanks you Lake and everyone else who made this happen!1 found this helpful
I really wanted to like this game, sadly, no. The racing is fun and sense of speed great, good soundtrack too, but it's severely held back with useless padding and locking content behind annoying progression. Buy Screamer or BallisticNG instead. Good luck to the developers, but that's my consumer advice.1 found this helpful
I've been looking for a worthy successor to F-Zero X and GX for ages, and XF Extreme Formula was exactly what I'm looking for. Very good racing mechanics, super smooth controls, great sense of speed, this game just has it all. I loved my time with it.
Great racer with an incredible sense of speed that any fan of F-Zero should enjoy. If the massive length and padding of story mode turn you off just play arcade mode and never look back.
First ever review I'm giving! I was looking for a new racing game to pick up and found this one through Spark 3, and I wanted to try out some more of Feperd's stuff. For reference in terms of playtime, I just finished the story. However, I will absolutely be putting in more hours because this game is awesome! Not only does the racing itself feel incredible and insanely well responsive, the OST is amazing (and I will be listening to it regularly now), and the sci-fi environments and characters of this universe are very creative and unique. It's absolutely perfect for any space lovers. You will require patience to play this game, and I think that's a good thing. You can't easily hop right in and win races, you must spend time learning essentials and practicing. With the right amount of practice, the majority of the story is easy, with some exceptions. Some races towards the end will require several attempts and may be frustrating, but stick with it! There are a few bugs here and there, including some regarding the No-Go zones I've seen mentioned by others. The fact that the only other issue I noticed was minor typos in the English is insanely impressive for a solo developer. Defi…
