Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles

Review is based on the question "would I recommend this to other people." not "is the game objectively bad or good." Thanks. things I liked about the game: - the fact that in certain seasons the environment changed, like the water being lower in a pond so you could reach a previously inaccessible chest. - the barter system rather than having a currency is neat. - forest area is very pretty - hitboxes in the game were well coded - i like any game that has changing seasons in general (though this could've used some more differentiation rather than just whether it's raining or snowing) - the idea of having different areas in the game pay more or less for different types of items because those areas produce certain types of products is GREAT. I really like that! unfortunately it's not implemented super well, but I really liked the idea and would like to see that in more games that have open worlds with buying and selling various goods. - I am glad you can go to towns and get stuff like keystones and cobblestone because wow it takes a LOT of resources to make those yourself - shiny hair :) - exploration is well rewarded! [h2]Hunt down animals, but don't kill them! Cause you can't.[/h2] At first I wasn't sure about this game. Actually, I'm still not sure about this game. I'm also not sure how I managed to play through the entire thing. I'm not usually into farming sims, but Yonder is far more of an open-world adventure game than a farming sim. There is no combat whatsoever. No monsters to slay. No bandits to fight. No wildlife to accidentally turn into dinner. Instead, it's a relaxing collectathon mixed with light farming, creature collecting, crafting, and questing. The animals you collect mostly end up helping produce resources for quests and farms. The world of Yonder is built entirely around peace, positivity, and exploration. It's beautiful, charming, and surprisingly relaxing to wander around in. I'm still not entirely sure why I enjoyed it as much as I did, but somehow I did. It's fun to explore until you realize how short the days are, the game is beautiful during the day but it's only a few minutes until it's dark again. There is also no way to skip time or sleep, so half your time will be spent exploring in darkness. This is meant to be a "cosy" game, but feeling like you're always on the clock makes it stressful and not fun.

An exellent game if you want either a peacefull building and exploration game with great visuals or start your children of with a game that allows theses things but isnt to hard or scary. That beeing said, the game is by no means childisch oder to easy.

It definitely took me a minute to get used to everything but I ended up really enjoying this game. There was several elements that are super fun, (like collecting the cats, sprites, and animals, the fishing was different than any other game but I enjoyed it) and it was actually very ADHD friendly in my opinion, but there were a few annoyances but not enough to dislike the game (fast travel points were far from important areas, the farms could have been more useful, and certain mechanics bothered me) All in all though this game was very fun and cozy and I really enjoyed it.

It's a nice game, but it's not captivating and interesting enough for my mind. Better time for those who like this game, I don't like it. he bores me.
