Z Steel Soldiers Z Steel Soldiers is a simple, casual, and humerus RTS (Real Time Strategy) that I would recommend for lighthearted RTS audiences. The graphics are nicely updated compared to the original and I just generally enjoyed playing the game.

Z Steel Soldiers, developed by TickTock Games and published by Rebellion, is a reimagining of the cult-classic real-time strategy game from the Bitmap Brothers that sought to modernize one of the most distinctive titles of its era. Rather than following the traditional formula of base building and resource harvesting, Z Steel Soldiers focuses on territory control, fast-paced tactics, and constant aggression. This is not a strategy game about hoarding resources or slowly constructing an empire—it’s a game about momentum, positioning, and calculated risk-taking. The premise is simple but potent: every piece of ground you hold directly contributes to your ability to produce and deploy units. Losing ground means losing production capacity, making every skirmish and every inch of the map vital to survival. Constantly crashing and the same mission objectives again and again: capture a building x, capture a building y.... And the charm of the 1996 "Z" is completely gone. It's a generic RTS with no character. And the few existing cutscenes are a joke. Who designed this game? Any Quality Assurance around?

Never was able to play this version back in the day but I didnt miss out on anything. Stick to the first game Z not this sequel.

The Z series is a classic, and this is still a good RTS. I don't know that I'd recommend jumping into it 11 years later, but it was a good RTS in its day.
