About Zombie Exodus
Could you survive a zombie apocalypse?
"Zombie Exodus" is a thrilling 750,000-word interactive survival-horror novel by Jim Dattilo, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based--without animation or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
It starts with a daring escape from your zombie-infested city, and it ends at Zombie Exodus, when a horde of zombies swarms outlying settlements like locusts.
Will you be a soldier, athlete, carpenter, minister, or scientist? Play as male or female, gay or straight, and even find romance in the post-apocalypse.

Reviewing (mostly) every game (or DLC) in my library, part 115: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆☆☆ (6/10) Zombie Exodus is one of the earliest major interactive fiction games published by Choice of Games—a classic zombie apocalypse story with solid mechanics, a sprawling plot, and surprisingly deep systems for an IF. It lets you build your survivor, manage supplies, and make major choices that affect who lives and dies. But while the structure holds up, the writing does not. The prose is dense and dry, and dialogue often feels flat. Characters rarely jump off the page, and the game spends more time describing logistics than letting you connect emotionally with your crew. If you’re looking for a narrative-rich experience full of personal bonds or romance, this ain’t it. But if you like old-school survival management with long-term consequences and a gritty tone, you might still get a lot out of it. 🪖 Pros:

Solid survival systems. You scavenge, defend your base, manage supplies, and upgrade your skills over time. It’s satisfying to build your character into a strong, capable survivor.
Meaningful decisions. Choices actually matter. Whether you take charge, delegate, …11 found this helpful
Just saw the price of this on steam. I did not pay that price, it was NOT 20 dollars when I got the game. It is, fine. Not great, not particularly good even, just fine. For a Choice Of game it is rather dry, lacking in character depth and more focused on the 'mechanics' of getting the CORRECT choices to progress without dying. Not so much an expression of your version of the character story wise. It is NOT worth, 20 dollars, not even close. I would have been neutral on it overall, different strokes and all of that, but for 20 dollars that is a HARD do not recommend.1 found this helpful
I tried this just to have Bonus stats on Zombie Exodus Safe Haven. The author has made a lot of improvements to their writing in that series.1 found this helpful
was not expecting this story to make me LOCK THE ♥♥♥♥ IN... was gripped and distraught throughout it man... Good to play through with Gothic/ Neo- Western music in the background. What a Treat!
A fun but difficult zombie chose your own adventure style game. My first playthrough was based off of decisions I would have made in each specific situation and experienced my first death on the Oil Rig, around the games midpoint. I ended with 'Ending 4' out of 9 possible endings. The single start to finish run took me six hours of gameplay and Just one Steam trophy - I could see collectors easily getting frustrated with this game. The most impressive thing is how much tension a text based game could cause me, I truly had to deliberate some of the choices I made. Well worth my time - and yours too!
Neat!
