Recommended. A hand-drawn folklore puzzler that sends a fishing boy into a world of demons and quags, maintaining the series' unbroken streak of wholly original puzzle mechanics, four games and counting. Colour-dial lighting, constellation globes, candle-revived scarecrow golems and a flyable chair-bird keep every chapter distinct, the Granny's-foot escape is the franchise's comic-grotesque peak, and the kidnapped princess's identity rewards series followers without requiring them. Death is frequent but consequence-free, keeping the tone light. The mine's RGB-light dial is blind-hostile until a too-well-hidden clock-position colour note is found, the skull-lock puzzle overcomplicates under its time crunch, and the escape-boat stealth is the series' weakest: instant-fail patrols, an uncancellable call mechanic and enemy-spam boat battles. Two light hours of fresh mechanics per chapter.

Creepy Tale: Some Other Place is as good if not slightly better than the other episodes. I think each new game improves a little from its predecessor. Creepy Tale 2 had the most interesting story, but this one has the most pleasant puzzles. The first question I've asked myself before playing it: why is this episode not numbered "4"? Now, I can affirm it should have been called Creepy Tale 4. It follows the same recipe as the others. But like each episode, it's an independent story in the same creepy universe. Playing the previous episodes was never required for any of the Creepy Tale episode. So perhaps they should have never been numbered. But there are always many little references shown in a tactful way: if you have never played other episodes, you won't think you have missed something. In term of narrative content, it's very light, even more so than the previous episode. It's also less bloody or cruel toward its main character. The ambience, atmosphere is still very good. I've always enjoyed this strange nightmarish universe, and its hand drawn art-style. The gameplay is probably the most logical of all Creepy Tale games. There wasn't once where I solved a puzzle without eve…

Shorter than the previous games, but it still has the same eerie atmosphere, great puzzles, and a compelling story. Keep the Creepy Tales creeping !

This is the only game in the series that I've completed on my own. The puzzles are fairly easy, unlike the previous installments. Another downside: the game is very short, but considering the price, it's not that bad.
