✦ AI summary

20XX is a roguelike that successfully captures the spirit of classic Mega Man-inspired games, with players particularly praising its solid gameplay, charming art style, and faithful recreation of that retro aesthetic. However, opinions are divided on the presentation—while some love the deliberate homage to 80s and 90s games, others find the graphics simplistic and animations stilted, and technical issues like menu clutter and resolution freezing detract from the experience. Players seem satisfied with the core gameplay loop despite occasional jankiness in level design.

The menus were also felt to be very utilitarian, with the game not even having a taskbar icon. - The very first level I tried to play had two instances of things that seemed like they were generated, rather than designed. First a platform that could be jumped to was unnecessarily-linked by a portal that became a needless obstacle to reaching another platform. Then, another portal that requi…

Phenomenal game that is exactly like you think it is and takes you right back to that moment back in 80 or 90 something in which a little blue sprite had a blaster on their arm. It also beautifully combines many aspects of the culture from the games that inspired like the chips, powerups, and world building aspects. Would love to see a story mode, but perhaps another game!
