Mars: War Logs is a budget sci-fi RPG with a gritty Mars setting and some meaningful story choices that appeal to old-school RPG fans, but players note it suffers from short length, repetitive combat, rudimentary skills, and small environments that feel circular. While the game has technical stability and provides decent entertainment value, the story is fairly conventional and characters lack depth, though the game's dark atmosphere and choice-dependent ending reward patient players.
Let's start with the obvious: most of the screens shown above are cutscenes and the two that aren't have a rather flattering camera position, zoom, and angle, as you will notice if you watch any Let's plays. Contrary to what these pictures suggest, you play in third person with the camera behind and above you. Personally, I felt the game is a bit too short for a RPG, skills are a bit rudimentary, dialogs not very memorable (I found myself skipping many of them), fights a little repetetive, and the story is a bit too classic rebel vs evil establishment. On the technical side, I noticed no show-stoppers, no major bugs. For the price, it is perfectly good entertainment. The first part of the game starts with you as a prisoner running errands for various fellow inmates, and is almost too full of great cutscenes. However, you will see less and less of those as you progress further into the game. Each act has you explore a different area. Once the act is complete you usually won't return there, so make sure you finished all you wanted to do before you move on with the main plot. There are two major factions that are relevant to the plot, and some side quests. For the most part, the si…6 found this helpful
nice old rpg game
A game from Spiders in all its glory! Not a masterpiece, but really brings its fair share of good gaming moments. Feels a bit outdated now, but for an old-school gamer that's not a problem - these were the PRGs "back in my days" :) I've been pleasently surprised to see the Chapter 3 / ending being dependent on my choices!
I nice taste of the technomancer world. I still think Technomancer itself was better, frankly how that gets critiqued for running back and fore and this game has small areas you circle about 5 times before moving on, is weird. But its all okay, some side quests of interest, some almost interesting characters, all just feeling they needed a bit more meat on their bones. Still not the best representation in regards to women but at least the S. Assault plot isn't as awfully done as Of Orcs and Men, probably about the right time for it to be out during one of the peaks of "date r*pe" drugs being used, so topically messaging (though it's really not ever, not topical, it's something everyone in public bars should be aware of to manage their own safety). I never really felt like I connected with anyone beyond the first companion, the rest feel more like stragglers. Less then £5 off sale and I think under a £1 on sale, its a fine time and at least you could get this taster of the world and go and get some more in technomancer. Combat was fine, somethings, certain skills could have done with more clarity on what they did and how they interacted, one which was to not have my casting be in…

Mars: War Logs is a gritty sci-fi RPG set on a war-torn Mars where water is scarce and every faction is fighting for control. Its harsh setting, morally gray choices, and industrial environments give the game a distinct atmosphere. The story follows Roy Temperance as he becomes caught between powerful groups, political conflict, and personal survival. Combat mixes close-range action with tactical abilities, while dialogue choices give players some control over how Roy handles key situations. The game has a smaller budget feel, with limited environments, rough animations, and combat that can become repetitive. Still, Mars: War Logs is a worthwhile experience for players who enjoy focused sci-fi RPGs with dark world-building and meaningful choices.
