Slice off specific limbs, loot your kills, and grow stronger through a innovative progression system that turns every defeated foe into weapon and armor upgrades.

A catastrophic event has knocked you out during the first day on the job… you wake up equipped with a heavy-grade exoskeleton, in a destroyed section of the complex. Robots gone haywire, insane augmented co-workers and rogue AI - everything wants you dead.

Defy deadly enemies and huge bosses in tight, visceral melee combat. Target and slice specific limbs off your foes, with a next-gen loot system where you loot what you dismember. Very underrated Souls-like. The combat is super satisfying especially with the crazy looking finishers. The setting and story is really interesting too, but my main complaint is that since most of it takes place in a big factory, a lot of the scenery looks the same which makes it REALLY easy to get lost. However, I have a horrible sense of direction so maybe that's just a personal problem! It was well worth the $8 or so that I paid for it.

too freakin hard for me. :( The game has a cool setting, diverse weapons, and moves, and the executes are VERY cool. That said, the run backs are brutal and the game in general is super punishing. I recommend for very experienced players.

I stopped playing this game because it was frustrating rather than challenging. The game mechanics are unique, as enemies can be attacked on each body part and you can loot armor from each body part. The downside of this game is the clunky parry and dodge mechanics. Furthermore, the vast map actually feels confusing rather than sparking curiosity to explore further. I’ve played "Blasphemous", which also features a vast map that players must unlock through exploration, but at least that game was still fun. In "The Surge", however, that aspect turns into frustration instead of curiosity. My personal rating: 6/10

Guide recommended, time consuming, not easy. This game has been my introduction to the Souls like genre and looking forward to playing it again.

amazing game. story is intriguing at first then kinda predictable towards the end, at least for me. will take new players a bit of time getting used to the gameplay but once it clicks it feels really great. some bosses and goons are still hard though even if youre already mastered the game. yooo the dlcs really spoiling you with bunch of cool powerful stuffs and new place to grind really quick to point it feels like cheating tbh. thankfully i only started them when getting into the final area, those are quite addictive too.

Fantastic game, with great combat mechanics and the progression system is very rewarding. Finding a high quality arm or leg to boost your stats and eventually collecting a full set plus the cool weapon you saw an npc using and feeling a noticeable surge is power is very satisfying. I would highly recommend buying especially now and £1.68! The Surge 2 is also very good, essentially offering more of the same in terms of gameplay and continuing with the story.
