About Creaks

✦ AI summary

Creaks is a puzzle adventure where you explore a mysterious mansion filled with hand-painted rooms, solve intricately designed puzzles, and uncover secrets hidden among furniture monsters and eccentric bird folk. From the creators of Machinarium and Samorost, it's a feast for the senses with stunning animation, atmospheric audio design, and an original score that brings its eerie world to life.

Meet Your New Neighbours

The ground starts shaking, light bulbs are breaking - and something rather unusual is happening right behind the walls of your very room. Equipped with nothing but wit and courage, you slowly descend into a world inhabited by avian folk and seemingly deadly furniture monsters.

From the creators of indie classics Machinarium and Samorost comes Creaks, an immersive puzzle game that delights the senses with its hand-painted visuals, precise animation, eerie sounds, and an eclectic original score from Hidden Orchestra. Proceed at your own pace at figuring out the solutions to dozens of carefully designed puzzles, explore the mansion for hidden paintings and uncover the great secret.

Creaks is best enjoyed with a controller and a good pair of headphones.

✦ AI summary

Creaks is praised by players for its beautiful, atmospheric art style and sublime puzzle design that challenges without frustrating, with most reviewers highlighting the cozy yet weird world as a major draw. The main criticism centers on the narrative feeling somewhat limited and slow compared to developer Amanita's other works, though players generally find the game a worthwhile, compact experience that doesn't overstay its welcome.

Honestly I didn’t expect to like Creaks this much. The art is beautiful and the whole world has this weird but cozy feeling to it. I also really liked the puzzles. Most of them made me stop and think for a bit, but never in an annoying way. I enjoyed pretty much every minute of it. Definitely one of those small games I’m really glad I gave a chance.

Loved it, the puzzle with a hint of story

This is a fun, very pretty game. I'd say the puzzle are more traditional sequencing puzzles, rather than point and click adventure puzzles that you might be expecting from Amanita. It's closer to Monster's Expedition than Machinarium. But the puzzle design is sublime. My only gripe is that I found the narrative... Eh. Machinarium and Botanicular felt like learning about a new world. Creaks felt more like learning about a family of vagrants. I don't know if that's necessarily a criticism, but it definitely felt limited and slow. I will say though, I was cry-laughing at the ending sequence. Because with each elevator we took, I expected that to be the last elevator. But then another elevator appeared. And it kept happening. Again. And again. And- Oh look, another elevato- Oh ANOTHER elevator- Oh wait... What's that I see...

What an incredible little game! I genuinely loved my time with Creaks, and I feel it ticks all the boxes for a good puzzle game. It stumped me at times, but never to the point of frustration, and I felt the need to look up a guide only once over the course of the entire game. Most of all, the art here is gorgeous. Multiple times during the course of my playthrough I have genuinely put down the controller and just looked at the screen for several minutes. Very much recommended overall. This game does not waste your time, and is a wonderful experience.
