About Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed

✦ AI summary

Battle through waves of enemies in real-time hack-and-slash combat with your favorite Neptunia characters, switching between pairs of heroines to balance their strengths and create devastating combo chains. Stand out with the Costume Break system that tears your outfit to boost critical hits, plus massive EXE Drive special attacks that can turn the tide of any fight.

The world of Gamindustri is experiencing a strange calm - the Goddesses protecting each nation are all at peace, and there's not an apocalyptic threat in sight! In order to shake things up with a good story, the world's leading journalists Dengekiko and Famitsu challenge the CPUs and CPU Candidates to complete a series of missions but soon they all may be in for a far bigger scoop in this action-packed hack 'n' slash!

Key Features
  • Street brawling in 1080! For the first time ever, your favorite Neptunia characters will have to hack ‘n’ slash their way through waves of enemies in real time! In the free-roaming stages, you’ll get to create chain combos both on the ground and in the air, all with 1080p graphics!
  • Two-person party! With the Dual System, you’ll be able to switch between two characters on the battlefield. Balance out each character’s strengths and weaknesses to create the ultimate battle duo, and even get some new playable characters – some of whom might be familiar from previous Neptunia games.
  • Let’s get physical! The heat of battle can cause some wear and tear on your outfits. When you experience a “Costume Break,” your outfits will tear, lowering your defense but increasing your critical rate and EXE Drive Gauge. The road to comebacks is paved with ripped fabric!
  • Skills get the kills! Fill up the EXE Drive Gauge in order to clear the room with two tiers of special attacks, and you might just get a helping hand from your friend later on to perform some super special attacks!

✦ AI summary

Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed is a stylish action spin-off that delivers the series' trademark humor and character charm alongside enjoyable musou-style combat, but players consistently complain about severe grinding requirements and shallow gameplay that becomes repetitive. Fans of the Neptunia franchise will likely have fun with it, though those seeking engaging combat depth or wanting to avoid tedious level-grinding may want to wait for a sale or skip it entirely.

Probably one of the better games that are similar to Senran Kagura. It's got that fun Neptunia banter and is enjoyable to play, but the combat isn't stellar, so know what you're buying.

another day another 100% on a nep game. Overall i think it's an alright game, the gameplay is pretty fun, the humour as usual is peak and this game has quite a lot of good music as well but MAN, the lily grind is absolutely COOKED in this game holy freaking ♥♥♥♥. It took me like around 10 HOURS of playing the same stage over and over and over and over to max it all out 😭 i was genuinely borderline about to go mental from the grind but i got it done in the end thanks to my soft spot for this series 🙏. AT LEAST every 2 lily ranks you unlock new dialogue between the 2 characters so that was cool, i got some more lore on this goofy ahh poopoo series. Overall for nep enjoyers i recommend it but man the wind sure is strong sometimes in this game and the final boss is an abomination. But a 10/10 because this is like the only nep game i played thats fully voiced in english, i didnt think such a thing existed 🥹🙏🙏

Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed is a stylish anime hack-and-slash spin-off with fast, musou-style combat, fun characters, and that classic Nep Nep charm. The humor, vibe, and fanservice carry the experience, but the gameplay quickly becomes repetitive and lacks depth. A fun but simple spin-off that’s best enjoyed if you’re already into the series.

Good spin-off with fun gameplay and great characters. That said, the Lily Rank grind was brutal.

This is the best Hyperdimension game. You get to beat up all the enemies while having fun. It has nice colors in the game.
