Saurian

Saurian is one of those games I really want to recommend, because the concept itself is genuinely great. Playing as an actual dinosaur and trying to survive in a relatively grounded prehistoric ecosystem is exactly the kind of thing I want more games to attempt. Unfortunately, as a complete game, Saurian still feels very far from finished. The gameplay is already quite slow by nature, which I personally don't mind too much, but it becomes much harder to overlook when combined with the amount of bugs, unfinished mechanics and the fact that the game explains almost nothing to you. A lot of the time you're not really learning through gameplay, you're just trying to figure out whether something is intentional, unfinished or simply broken. The biggest problem for me is the development pace. Updates have been extremely slow for years, to the point where it increasingly feels like development has quietly died. The developers have explained the circumstances behind this in the past, and I can sympathize with that, but unfortunately an explanation doesn't make the actual state of the game any better. I'm so glad I didn't listen to reviews, this game is amazing. I love all the mechanics, the gameplay and quality, I of course wish devs actually worked on it further but I guess it's still amazing.
