[b][u]A Fluid But Fragmented Metroidvania.[/u][/b] Divinum tries to position itself as a traditional Metroidvania, but it ultimately delivers a weak and hollow interpretation of the genre. [b]The Good:[/b] Fluid Mechanics: The combat is genuinely fun, and Fjør’s movement is exceptionally smooth and responsive. Quality-of-Life Focus: The game deserves credit for ditching frustrating, outdated tropes. You won't have to deal with annoying touch damage or punishingly long runbacks. [b]The Bad:[/b] Empty World: Exploring the map is a boring trek through mostly empty, barren halls. Aside from isolated challenge shrines offering a trio of platforming or combat trials, there is virtually nothing to find. Barebones Lore & Audio: The worldbuilding is non-existent. There are almost no NPCs to interact with and a severe lack of environmental documents to flesh out the backstory. Compounding this is a dull, completely forgettable soundtrack. Criminally Short: The experience is over before it ever really gets going. [b]Verdict:[/b] Divinum isn't a bad game, but it is an incredibly mediocre one. Highly recommended. This game does not waste your time. That goes from quick respawns when you die, to incredibly fluid movement and combat, to even just closing the game quickly when quitting. That alone feels so polished and moving around is just so much plain fun that I honestly ignored the story for the first leg of the game entirely and just enjoyed exploring and fighting my way through the first 4 areas. Edit: Having finished the game, I'd say I only wish it was longer. On the other hand, I had such a good time, I can see myself giving that a decent amount of replays just to perfect the fluidity of the combat. For 15 bucks I'd say this is an alright amount of content though, particularly given the shortness is made up for with quality. It really makes me wish though that the game had something to incentivise replays. Raising difficulty or the like.

I had an amazing time with this game i highly recommend. if you enjoy creating juggles in combat and ground to air combos along with fun platforming challenges then this is surely a game for you.

Short game but fun. Great, classic Metroidvania gameplay. Bosses were challenging but not overly so.

This is a good videogame. It is on Steam and it is a good videogame. It is a Metroidvania, and it should be played and enjoyed by anybody who enjoys Metroidvanias, especially Vinny Caravella. Combat is good. Style is Nintendo charming. Art is good. Effects are nice. Combat is amazing. Hooks you right away. Just awesome. I dunno if anybody can remember the Panasonic 3DO? This ♥♥♥♥ reminds me of that. It's too slick to be a 16-bit era title. But the 3DO time period and that console in particular had some 2D games that were a lot like this before everything went to 3D. If you like Metroidvanias or remember the 3DO, this is one for you. (and Vinny Caravella)
