I was expecting a "story mode" where you would watch a behind the scenes/interview video for each specific game and play that exact game right after, and then repeat that process for every major Tetris game released, chronologically. That's not a thing here. You have the videos/photos ("chronologically") as the main hub when you start the game, and then some games that you can play on another separate hub (also, chronologically). So if you intend to watch and play accordingly, you will have to enter and leave each hub every damn time and search for what's next. What a missed opportunity... Also, it's a game designed to play with a controller. You can play with a keyboard, but in the majority of games the directions (up, down, etc) and actions (like rotating) are set to random numbers, so you will have to manually change that for each individual game (yes, you CAN'T set your preferences to every game at the same time in some sort of menu, because THERE ISN'T an option like that).

Unfortunately missing a few key versions of Tetris in the collection, because you know who wouldn't play ball I'm sure, but it's still so good. A better version of the story than the movie was, and Time Warp is a fun new addition to the canon

I'm a huge Tetris fan, not bad games in this list but I'm disappointed that it's missing N American versions, the Super Nintendo Tetris 2 with the colour matching challenge is one of the best I've played. I'm not a fan of the Bombliss versions.

My first experience with Tetris was on the Gameboy way back in the day. That version is infinitely better than the versions here. Some games feel, okay-ish. Others feel horrible. The big draw is apparently the time-warp mode but it's not fun because all it does it interrupt your game flow by putting you in other versions of Tetris to accomplish a task before dropping you back in the middle of your game, completely screwing you up most of the time. It's like idiots designed this and decided "screw playtesting, we'll just go with it because everyone loves Tetris. And I DO love Tetris, but this is hands down, the worst game of it I've ever experienced. It's not worth playing even if it were free. I think maybe the dumbest design decision is that controls don't match between games.

Expect an interactive documentary first and foremost. I played the game by going through the timelines linearly, which is the best way to do it, I think. You get to watch the documentary, learn some tid bits and then play the game they were just talking about. Sadly, some of the most important Tetris releases weren't included (probably because of licensing issues) and its a bit disappointing when you get to the part where they talk about the NES or Gameboy version and unlike before, you don't get to play them. I appreciate the effort to preserve all these games in here and the emulation works fine enough. Annoyingly, some games seem to not remember rebound controls or highscores though. Otherwise, a solid experience. If you're interested in the history of Tetris, this is the most detailed retelling you could get. And now, let me talk to the guy who added the achievement for clearing 100 lines on the original Electronika 60 version: Dude, what where you thinking? Have you played that game at level 9? Not only do you need to basically hypertap to put the pieces where you want, you need to keep your stack clean EVEN THOUGH you can only rotate the piece in one direction. And then i…
