Commander: Conquest of the Americas

Feels like an attempt to update Sid Meier's Colonisation but falls woefully flat. Pro: Slightly better graphics. More ship types, and the ability to upgrade aspects of the ship, able to vary crew, admirals, gives the player some choice. The ship combat system is interesting. There is a real sense of progression. ship types and buildings are unlocked over the years. This game feels truer to what I think colonisation would have been like. Con: This game is just work. Constantly trying to keep your advisers happy, some advisers missions failing to complete even when you do what they ask. As the game progresses, Colony's wants become endless. (becomes a personal shopper simulator) Constantly balancing the budget. you have to buy products from the colonies to sell back to the old world at a profit. run out of money and trade dies. Controls can be a little wonky, Especially the camera. Pre-selected Colony locations and names.

I did my best to like this; however, it is data heavy and enjoyable light. I wouldn't mind the heavy data, if it is enjoyable.I guess I was expecting a little more.

Still enjoy this game in 2026.

Started playing again after a few years. I was beginning to get into it, but then I found the game saves were not saving.
