Penumbra Overture

An outstandingly refreshing experience in spite of its age. The plot is an alluring intrigue and the setting an abyssal enticement of dark caverns and concrete corridors deep beneath the desolate arctic permafrost. The gameplay requires engagement from the player in a way that engrosses you on its own terms but it does not make demands in obscurity. The mechanics serve the world they exist in and are realized through the player. Pacing is restrained and well moderated. The premise is simple, remains focused and unlike other games of the genre, refrains from indulging in narrative excesses. It so excellently conveys characters through the scattered remnants of their notes and letters, people whom you will never meet and yet you get to know them so closely, all their fears, anxieties, and anticipations. Lastly, combat in all its clunky awkwardness is the one recurring blemish but one that is easily avoided. That all said, I could not help but draw comparisons to Amnesia The Bunker (it was only after completing the story did I learn they were by the same developers). Чтож, закончился мой путь по всей официальной серии Penumbra. Начали за здравие а кончили за Requiem (почему-то игры с этой припиской в последнее время дико разочаровывают). На самом деле все эпизоды очень короткие (буквально 2 с половой часа не считая несколько моих попыток пройти Оверчуру в раннем возрасте) Собственно Penumbra Overture т.и. как Истоки Зла и Тёмный Мир является первой частью из цикла жуткой истории и злоключейний главного героя Филиппа Лафриска. Мои детские страхи перед ней развеялись и я был очень даже приятно удивлён. По прежнему конечно тем кто не варится в хоррорах 24/7 будет некомфортно от здешней жутковатой атмосферы. По сюжету можно сказать что это Батя ушёл за хлебом The Game, да к мотивации есть вопросы, но Филя у нас впринципе ГГ-шка с прибабахом. "Поеду в неизвестную область Гренландии от бати которого никогда не видел, хочется поискать приключений на свой ещё не замёрзший ass" Наполнение в целом выдалось крайне небольшим, я бы даже сказал минимальным, только один персонаж встретится на нашем пути, которого мы даже вживую не увидим, и всё же это современная классика, так что прощаем. Insanely good horror game

Got this game from a bundle with Amnesia. It looks pretty interesting especially bcz it's old but I only recommend it for those who are ok with old graphics. Even I was a bit meh and just watched it on youtube to see what the game is about.
