note: since all three penumbra games are now part of the penumbra collection i will leave the same summary on all of them. i first got my hands on the penumbra games in late 2012. (actually i still found the old savegames on my current rig.) they are gripping survival horror games with dense atmosphere and a weird but interesting story. back then it was THE scariest game young me with full hair had ever played. still creeped me out this time around actually and probably added a few grey hairs extra. the puzzles are good and straight forward but it's one of them old pacifist games where you can't even pick up a hammer on the floor to defend yourself with. back in the days this seriously annoyed me buuut it's part of the game i guess. obviously by today's standards absolutely everything about penumbra feels dated and dusted. but for me they are a must-have for all horror genre fans IF you don't mind the old school presentation. time to complete overture: 5 hours black plague: 4.5 hours requiem: 3 hours2 found this helpful
I hope they bring back this game series
If you want to see the end of Penumbra this is that but honestly I was completely checked out of the plot at this point and I never cared for red or his voice acting lol. Rating: 1/3
Penumbra: Requiem fizzles out what the first two games had. It ends on a whimper -- it seems dislocated and unfinished, even though I know it is an epilogue. The gameplay leaves much to be desired from Level 4-5 onwards. The puzzles are boring and they no longer have that grounded feel from Black Plague. Instead of using a "manual" to concoct a cure for Clarence, you're scraping an electrified ball along the wall. It felt pretty "meh" All things considered. Still, it can only mainly go up from here.
a game worthy to end the series 10/10 from all of the penumbra games, my favorite was penumbra overture with black plague and requiem on second spot, i enjoyed this hidden gem for a series
Penumbra: Requiem is just puzzles and thats all. But despite that it was pretty enjoyable aside few levels.
