Eggventure

The game looks absolutely amazing visually, but the music is on a whole other level. It’s WAY, WAY, WAY better than I expected! I honestly didn’t expect the soundtrack to be this good!

I know many people will disagree, but I really love the idea of having the merchant with you at all times and being able to buy things whenever you need them. It makes exploration much easier and more convenient in a Metroidvanias. Really good-quality game, I love it!

Catastrophe. One of the most unpolished video game's I've ever picked up on steam. The developer was smart and decided to create a steam input profile for inputs instead of using xinput or dinput, but he was too lazy to do the mappings properly and test them. Many of the default bindings are completely wrong compared to what the game shows.

There's nothing like beating up a flying pickle monster as an egg to wake up in the morning; only makes sense with how important eggs are for breakfast. As early as I am in the game, I still have yet to find any leads on Egbert's missing friends, but the navigation techniques all work well to make the map relatively easy to traverse (as long as you're looking out for spikes and enemies). The first time I thought I might have gone in a direction I couldn't get back from, I quick tutorial revealed a new skill that opened up both the path back and additional areas I could go through. The pixel art style stands out, and the bosses especially do a good job standing out in both their design and animations. I also smiled upon seeing the capybara key chain on the Eggventory, and I'm looking forward to piecing together how a capybara fits into this kitchen-based land I've found myself in. I'm always thankful to find quirky metroidvanias that feel this polished in the early stages, and I'm looking forward to finding new quests and zones to see how this one plays out and expands. If the OST ever becomes available to pick up, I might snag that as well.

I like the game, it’s really nice! The combat and exploration are both good. The biggest issue for me is that the button to skip tutorials is the same as the jump button. I accidentally skipped quite a few tutorials that I later found out were actually helpful. Having a separate button for skipping tutorials would be a nice improvement.

this game is really fun but it has so many bugs i feel like im not dreading the bosses or anything but im dreading the bugs and the bugs are so random like if i press Q while im in the bossfight cutscene the game crashes? another time i was going somewhere and i noclipped out of the map and the game saved while i was in the void so i couldnt use that savefile and then on my second savefile i stopped playing the game and the next day i tried using the savefile but i couldnt? and on my third savefile the bosses didnt give me any money? the game has potential but it feels like the guy who made it just wanted to make a half assed bug fest of a game about eggs and the humor is so bad and outdated
