Frozen Synapse has an innovative tactical concept that players appreciate, but the execution falls short with a clunky UI, unpredictable combat mechanics, and poor support infrastructure that has left the game feeling outdated. While the core idea of predicting opponent moves and planning squad actions is satisfying in theory, players frequently encounter frustrating issues like units failing to act as intended and confusing interface design that work against enjoyment. Most reviews suggest there are better tactical alternatives available on the market today.
Pretty revolutionary when it came out and very fun. Unfortunately it has lost a lot of the magic over the years and is quite outdated now.6 found this helpful
Good concept, subpar execution. The UI seems to be working against you at every turn, and although it lets you make tactical decisions at a granular level, it feels rather clunky. I realise it was innovative when it came out, but there are plenty of better options on the market.3 found this helpful
UW Support - ❓ Steam Deck Playable - ❌ This is a game that has not aged well. Playing through the tutorial and some of the levels and they were challenging and fun! The same cannot be said for the support for this game. My account is locked out due to me forgetting the password and it's been months since I've heard back from the support. I get that it's an old game, doesn't mean that locking the two player behind a separate email system was a good idea. Fun game, terrible online experience.2 found this helpful
