Hero of the Kingdom III

Absolute grindfest compared to the first two

Hero of the Kingdom III started off pretty good; they added some new things, like your skills leveling up to a 100 and a crafting screen for food, potions, and weapons. But about half way through, the game just grinds to a halt. Every enemy takes requires 5 or more potions to fight, so you're constantly harvesting ingredients and making potions. Your weapons break all the time and you have to craft more, it becomes a real chore. More isn't always better, and that's true in this case; it still has the same overall feel as the first two games, but they took it in the wrong direction.

Silly story and corny dialogue and significantly more grindy than the previous games in the series (you will spend a lot of time cooking and crafting potions since many encounters, especially late game, require a lot of strength and pots), but a typical HotK installment in all the good ways.

Unless you just really want to complete this entire series of games, I would just skip this one. The charm of the previous games was a simple story-driven point and click RPG that was just good enough to waste some time on to complete. They did improve some systems in this one ,but the story is just the lowest effort trash I think I have ever played. I mean it is really bad. On top of that they have this RNG durability mechanic that leads to some really over the top breaking of equipment, that will leave you wondering if they forgot this is a casual game. Anyways I had to make myself finish this one.

The second game was fun but this was way too much of a grind. Money making exploits were a bonus in the 2nd game but necessary in this. I've never played a game where grinding exploits was necessary to finish the game. The scaling of tools braking and required health/potions is just plain dumb. Also, the ending sequence was insulting. The princess wasn't worth saving anyway but the lady who's brother you saved would be a fine match.
