Fallen Aces

Episode 1 was amazing but maaaaan did they knock it out the park with Episode 2, the way things are progressing Episode 3 is bound to be a banger!

Really decent for the price. Like most early access games it has some minor quirks and bugs, but nothing a reload at worst could not fix. Sometimes NPC helpers get stuck, but you can bump them back into their walkable nodes. The driving sections are loose, the car has no traction at all, but it's more of a general suggestion than an actual challenge, so it evens out. The Ammo system needs an overhaul, not allowing the player to unload and load magazines means that you may find a thompson mag with 7 bullets, but cannot add the extras to your current gun, forcing you to backtrack if you don't want to give up one of your 4 already extremely limited inventory slots. That's about all for the negatives. On the positive side, the devs are constantly adding polish and new minor immersive features, the story is well written and the combat is pretty good, if a bit more stealth dependent that I would personally like.

[i]Fallen Aces[/i] feels like [i]Duke Nukem 3D[/i]'s pulp noir cousin, but with even more maximalist design, to the point it verges upon and occasionally feels like it crosses over into immersive sim territory. Levels are sprawling, but also dense with spaces to explore, secrets to hunt down, and alternative paths to take through the environment. It's damn near to everything I want from a video game. Episode 1 is awesome, episode 2 pushes the scale and scope even wider, and I can't wait to see where they take it in Episode 3.

Way too many bugs in episode 2. After spending an hour on a level to find out its unbeatable because an objective won't trigger as complete is too annoying.

game's still suffering from significant crashing issues on my machine. I run arch linux on a decently high end pc and even after the recent update that apparently fixes these it still consistently crashes during loading screens
