About Legions of Ashworld
As the various characters encountered across Ashworld are recruited to the player's cause, the player can then move them around the lands, having them performing a variety of activities, such as hiring mercenaries, buying goods and provisions, and attacking hostile forces. The lands of Ashworld contain many places of interest - especially noteworthy are various temples, from those occupied by servants of wizards' orders which provide magic services, to ancient abandoned ruins where valuable magic items can be found. Outside the territories where humans reside other races live who may become important allies if persuaded to join the war.

Players appreciate this old-school strategy wargame's unique aesthetic, atmospheric music, and deep tactical gameplay that appeals to fans of classic titles like Lords of Midnight, but many struggle with poor tutorialization, unclear mechanics (particularly unit building at garrisons), and opaque controls that make the game difficult to learn despite its solid foundation. The game seems to deliver for its niche audience of retro strategy enthusiasts, though it falls short for players seeking modern accessibility or clearer guidance.
TL;DR: Recommended only if you like Lords of Midnight, Cryo's Dune and old-school strategy games. This is retro strategy wargame in the vein of Lords of Midnight and Cryo's Dune. Plays much like an old school strategy boardgame, and is mostly intended for players who like that sort of thing. Others will probably not like it. It is a strategy game in the truest sense, meaning that you will have to come up with an overarching plan and adapt it to the situation if you are to have any hope of victory; you need to strike a balance between recruiting allies, keeping your own troops supplied and rested, and eliminating smaller enemy groups before they can concentrate their forces. Great artwork and nice music. The game also gets points for using a Middle East / North Africa inspired fantasy setting instead of the overused medieval (Western/Central) Europe one. Unfortunately, the game doesn't have the same epic "feel" as LoM or Dune, partly because it removes the Lord of the Rings-like quest in LoM in order to focus on the strategy aspect, and partly because the writing, while functional, feels somewhat flat and uninspired.
