Ittle Dew 2+ (2016)

I will start by saying that I recommend you play both, Ittle Dew 1 and 2. 1 feels more like a clever replayable, puzzle game with zelda gameplay whereas 2 feels more like a true zelda game. Ittle Dew 1 was designed with 4 different paths. It was a game that was meant to be replayed and for you to route the different possible paths. The devs also changed the graphics style from 2D to 3D. I think both are fine even if I prefer the 2D art from the previous game. Ittle Dew 2 is a bit strange in that they changed the design from Ittle Dew 1. Ittle dew 2 goes crazy with map design and gives you complete freedom to complete the dungeons in any order. This gives the game a nice open world sense of the world. Everything is open from the start, and you can complete everything in any order. I can't remember a single moment that I had to backtrack. The consequence of this means the devs have needed to simplify a lot of puzzles, which for me is a good thing. It means the pacing of the overworld exploration feels fast, smooth and fun. Too difficult.

A casual, funny puzzle game with a distinct aesthetic and plenty of variety

Fun and actually difficult puzzles in the later game! Overworld was quite confusing at times and I wish the quick travel option would work a bit differently. Overall a great and funny experience!

A beautiful game similar to the 2D games in the series: (The Legend Of Zelda). I recommend this game.

Overall it's a 👍 if you've got the itch for a Zelda but want something more light-hearted. It's charming and the puzzles and exploration are fun, and it's a much bigger game than the first one. While the original Ittle Dew can be 100% completed in an afternoon, this one took me a good 10+ hours. However there seems to be more of an emphasis on combat this time and it's kind of crap. It's the type of combat where you'll just be tanking through a bunch of cheap shots and hoping that the enemies die before you do. It's not fun, and while it usually isn't SUPER challenging, a couple of the optional boss fights are just total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I wouldn't say it's annoying enough to ruin the game but it's definitely a mark against it. Also, much like the first game, the gamepad support is a bit crusty, so you might have to mess with Steam input a bit if you don't intend to play on keyboard.
