About Tennis Elbow 4

✦ AI summary

Tennis Elbow 4 is a deeply realistic tennis simulation where you master rallies through anticipation, positioning, and shot selection across a 70-year career spanning 400+ tournaments with 3500+ evolving players. It rewards learning proper technique and tactical awareness while offering assists and difficulty levels for casual play or demanding precision competition.

Tennis Elbow 4 is the successor to Tennis Elbow 2013, acclaimed by many Steam reviewers as one of the most realistic tennis simulations ever made.TE4 pushes the realism of tennis rallies even further with fully reworked ball, strike and player physics. The game is built around anticipation, positioning, player inertia, shot selection and risk management, while still letting you start playing quickly with the right assists and difficulty settings.Created by and for tennis fans, Tennis Elbow 4 is a deep tennis simulation that can be enjoyed at many levels. You can play casually with helpers such as Auto-Positioning, Footwork Boost and Aiming Preview, or progressively turn them down to experience a more demanding and precise game.Like real tennis, TE4 rewards players who learn to read the ball, prepare early, position themselves properly and choose the right shot under pressure. The basics can click quickly, but mastering the rallies, timing and movement gives the game its long-term depth. To beat your opponent, you can use all the main shots available on a real court: safe strikes, accelerations, topspin shots, slices, drop shots, lobs, volleys and smashes. Cross-court rallies, changes of rhythm, defensive play and risky winners all emerge naturally from the physics and the tactical situation. With many difficulty levels and sublevels, Tennis Elbow 4 lets you tune the challenge very precisely. Lower levels and assists are ideal to learn the controls and enjoy the career at your own rhythm, while higher levels bring the pace, pressure and consistency closer to professional tennis.Tennis Elbow 4 features one of the most complete World Tours ever made in a tennis game. With over 3500 players evolving across several decades and more than 400 tournaments each year, from low-rank Junior events to top-level Pro finals, in both singles and doubles, you can experience the long-term progression of a real tennis career. The Tennis Elbow engine is also very open to modding, with many Mods directly downloadable from within the game. Mods can add or improve players, outfits, courts, sounds and many other elements, letting the community push the game even further.Tennis Elbow 4 is made for players who want deep rallies, realistic ball physics, meaningful positioning and a true learning curve.
Features:
  • 9 different court surfaces : clay, green clay, grass, hard, blue-green hard, classic synthetic, NewLine synthetic, indoor hard and indoor synthetic; each with a specific rebound
  • 21 Stadiums around the world
  • 400+ tournaments, with 3500+ players evolving over 70 years, from 1973 for men & 1983 for women, to 2042
  • Commentaries by Tennis TV commentator Darren Kilfara
  • The Country Cup
  • Singles & doubles competitions
  • Junior & Pro Tours
  • 6 difficulty levels, each split into 10 sublevels
  • Full ranking system
  • 3D male & female players, fully customizable
  • Singles, 3, and doubles games
  • Split screen
  • Network : LAN and online games
  • 1 to 6 games per set, in best of 1, 3 or 5 sets
  • 7 camera modes
  • Moving sun and Night session
  • The game is very Modding-friendly

Warnings for the Online mode :
  • You can play doubles with 4 human players on 1 computer, or on 2 computers with 2 players on each, via LAN or Internet — but not on four separate computers.
  • Online play uses peer-to-peer (P2P) connections with no relay server. This means that if you're behind CGNAT, or if you cannot forward a UDP port or use UPnP on your Internet router, you won’t be able to host a match. You should still be able to join a host, though.

It may not look the best out of the tennis simulations available out there, but the gameplay is by far the most varied out of all the games. Every game style and shot in the book is viable. Serve and volley, dropshotting, pushing, hard hitting, you name it, all is a potential way of winning the point. And that makes the game feel so much better than the other tennis games i tried. Of course the game has some deficiencies (I personally have the commentator turned off for example), but when it comes to the offer available, this is by far the game which provides the best gameplay experience. Hard to master, but most satisfying when finally pulling off awesome shots

First I watched the Prince of Tennis Then I started watching Tennis on TV Now I play Tennis Elbow 4 Soon I'll be on the courts for the first time. Fun game! Feels like it's missing some options (or I missed them) though. Cannot figure out how to set the CPU difficulty in the match mode. It only offers to increase difficulty if you utterly defeat it. 8/10

Only have around 5 hours so far, but ive played Full ace, Top spin, now this. TE4 is by far the best tennis game . Especially when you start downloading the mods. Just amazing. You actually feel like you have to play the correct shots, and super satisfying to win points. If you are a tennis fan, just get this.

A great tennis game, even for a casual tennis fan! Difficulty scales very well, and you can set it at the level that you feel more confortable with! Very fun!

To preface - I’ve been playing tennis games since the game boy black and white but I think pong is what got me into tennis on a bbc master. Very first topspin was the best I played by far years ago. Since then nothing really caught my attention. Recently played Topspin latest one and it felt like a hit the green bar simulator. Played tiebreak and loved crowd excitement and animations and back and forth grindy rallies. Then TE - if you want rally real feel this is the game. Is it the GOAT… Back in the day Sampras vs Agassi - you knew who was the goat. More recently fed vs nadal not so much, it was a bit closer. TE4 is the fed vs nadal era. I say this because all it needs is the crowd excitement of tiebreak and the animations. It’d then become the Sampras. The dev has openly said he’s not working more on TE4 re big changes, and also seems doesn’t think it’s necessary, and that’s fine, but in my opinion is a shame. It’s a few features away from being the Sampras but you’ll still have a great time with it. It’s not easy and has a real sense of progression- top tip on the ai character- change the difficulty at bottom left to junior and work your way up.
