The Rewinder

I like this game a lot, but the save files keep getting corrupted and erasing. I haven't had this problem with other games, and it's not quite good enough to make me invested in running down the fix.

Unique game style with a good story. Some of the achievements can be easy to miss, but in general a lot of fun to play.

The rich atmosphere and interesting world really shine here. I really felt immersed in uncovering intriguing mysteries. The game won't hold your hand, yet you won't get lost either. The Rewinder is a story-driven puzzle adventure that distinguishes itself through its strong connection to Chinese folklore, supernatural mystery, and memory manipulation. Gorgeous pixel art and music throughout got me to buy this, but the visual novel aspect of reading along to solve a mystery in a cursed town with periodic puzzles reminiscent of a sidescrolling Silent Hill F kept me intrigued throughout. Replaying levels for hidden items is very seamless and made me look forward to learning more of the story and mythology. The checkpoint system had me redoing a few puzzles between play sessions but the answers came much faster the second time around lol. I enjoyed the direction the dlc took to providing a prologue and a few new game mechanics paired with the familiar from the base game. This plays incredibly well on tablet through steam link, I made a community layout from the one I used throughout my playthrough
