Gloomgrave

The game was good but a recent suprise update that wasn't and to date hasn't been mentioned at all has set the game back to what feels and plays as a concept demo rather than a game.

The game was a very fun rouge like and had an easy going art style that always kept me coming back for another playthrough. Sadly that has now been changed into a bastard version of itself. The newest update (that has no patch notes it even happened) of the game looks and feels like a poor copy of the original game that I had purchased. It now looks like a horribly up rendered mess, that does not have the light and fun style from before. Gloomgrave had a tremendous amount of potential and room for growth. Added more levels, secret levels you have to find, more enemies, more weapons, a different and harder 7 floor tower. If it just kept to the core game it was and only built off of it. Then that would be an even better game. I would dare say it would be an amazing game that I would have sunk even hundreds of hours into.

Unfinished game with items with no explanations but it's pretty cheap so it's okay I feel I got 12 hours out of it Took me 3 years to get all the achievements because for some reason I couldn't finish with the rogue class

This is unexpected since this update makes me miss some things but has hook me more time playing. I feel the dungeons more interesting in their generation, the enemies also got better distribution. I will miss the classes and the hot bar to assign weapons and items to numbers, also attacking when advancing to the enemy position. Haven't seen the bows around but that might be just my luck, but indeed I'm using potions and scrolls a lot more than the previous version and I quite like that. Visually I would go back, I don't like the dots screen effect right now.

Gloomgrave /was/ a very fun game. You could choose between three different classes, there was a skill tree, it was very fun for as simple of a game it was. I had so much fun playing it, but now? Now I can't recommend it. The game had a surprise update that hasn't been discussed at all or posted about by the developers, and came out of the complete blue. It destroyed the charm of the game, the aesthetic, the skill trees, the different classes. Now it's just a skeleton of its former version. You can't choose classes, there is no skill tree, the purple-y/cutesy game aesthetic has turned to an incredibly dark and gloomy game (which, I guess? would match the name now? but it's not nearly as fun or enjoyable as it was before). Before the update, I recommended this game to all of my friends. Now? I've warned them all. Very disappointed that the update hasn't even been addressed except for in the reviews of this game. I genuinely thought I was seeing things/was going crazy until I saw some of the reviews recently finally addressing it.

Lots of fun. Basically, this is a Wizardry-like with 8-bit era Zelda action mechanics. There's a bit of a ;learning curve in regards to how certain things and effects work, but all-in-all, this should be easy for most to pickup and enjoy.
