About Death by Deduction

Welcome to "Death by Deduction", a unique combination of logic puzzle (similar to Minesweeper) and classic country-house whodunit, set amidst the opulent backdrop of 1970s England.

In the wake of the enigmatic demise of an eccentric millionaire, your investigative journey leads you to a solemn gathering at a sprawling English manor.

Explore the manor and uncover pieces of evidence by meticulously uncovering its hidden clues. When all of the evidence has been gathered, you'll have the chance to arrest the murderer and solve the case.

Interrogate suspects, examine evidence, and deduce who the murderer is before you become the next victim in this deadly game of cat and mouse.

Get ready to challenge your intellect and unravel the mystery that shrouds "Death by Deduction."

EXPLORE THE MANOR

Explore the manor and uncover clues to reveal pieces of evidence. Increasing difficulty settings grant access to more areas of the manor that need to be thoroughly searched as you hunt for the murderer.

EXAMINE THE EVIDENCE

Examine evidence that you find during your investigation. Every piece of evidence is surrounded by clues that must be revealed before you can uncover it. Evidence includes dead bodies, murder weapons, plot/story pieces, and red herrings.

QUESTION THE SUSPECTS

Questioning suspects gives you some information about them and reveals elements of the current plot/story. Suspects include traditional murder mystery characters like the reverend, the professor, and the retired army major.

ARREST THE MURDERER

When all pieces of evidence have been collected, you'll have the chance to arrest the murderer and conclude your investigation.

It was cheap and I gritted it out and got 100% on this, but there's no way I'd recommend this. It has the forced guessing of minesweeper, but even more frequently due to the smallish rooms. Expect to fail countless times trying to finish expert due to how often you'll have to guess. Then the mystery elements are weak and repetitive, and you have to grind runs for 100% until the game assigns every character as the murderer (and you catch them, but you can grind easy difficulty at that point). There are vastly better games out there both for the minesweeper and mystery parts.

Prepare for a thrilling and nostalgic detective experience with Death by Deduction, a captivating 3D puzzle game that combines the beloved board game Clue/Cluedo with the classic Minesweeper formula. At an incredibly affordable price, this gem offers hours of addictive gameplay that will have players hooked with a new mystery each time you play. The game's tutorial ensures that both newcomers and seasoned puzzle enthusiasts can quickly grasp the unique mechanics. As you explore the game's immersive 3D world, you'll find yourself tilting your perspective to reveal hidden clues and solve challenging puzzles, adding an extra layer of depth to the gameplay. With a variety of obstacles to overcome, such as deciphering cryptic clues, uncovering bodies, defusing bombs, opening safes, and even dealing with stolen notes, Death by Deduction keeps players on their toes. The game's optional gray scale and VHS tinting create an authentic '70s vibe, immersing players in a nostalgic era of sleuthing and suspense. Given the random nature of Minesweeper, you may occasionally need to make an educated guess. To minimize this, the developer has thoughtfully implemented safe zones around the star…

As a proud fan of "Clue"/"Cluedo", I absolutely enjoyed playing this game. I absolutely recommend this game to anyone who loves "Agatha Christie"-style murder-mysteries, number puzzle-solving, skills of deduction, and good, old English humor. And I am proud to say that I have helped give great suggestions to the creator of "Death by Deduction", who I must say, has to be one of the best indie-game creators of 2024, in my honest opinion.

This game is almost really great. However, it requires guessing, and guessing wrong between a 50/50 chance will make your game end. Its a very unfair and frustrating system that, if fixed, would make the game quite fun.
